He most definitely ripped you off. First off 1gs were made here in the US. Just to be certain make sure if you have a rear differential as I have seen a GSX turned into NT once.
Sorry misunderstood. The engine you bought could have been from a galant or early evo. As you said you bought an engine "for" a 1g NT

Check to see if there is a vin number on the top of the transmission side of the block.

It could be from a galant GSX. They had 4g63 n/a motors with an AWD drivetrain.

There was no eclipse outside of the US market, or at least not in the japanese market. This was a vehicle soley for the USDM as far as i've seen. The japanese don't even really have an eclipse equivelent, the FTO is way too different and the cylclone vehicles were more of a family car

He definately just lied his ass off to you, probably counting on the fact that you didn't know any better or he was just your average import retard on rice.

Most likely what you got was a GVR4 (japanese equivelent) motor and trans, there's nothing wrong with them though, so don't feel too burned, that's what i've got in my car right now for a motor. it's just a 6 bolt (or 7 bolt) 1g style motor. Make sure it's in good shape and run it, or rebuild it and run it even harder once your done!

EDIT: just caught that you were aiming to get an NT motor. What type of exhust manifold is on it? Turbo style or a plain looking header/ex mani?

if the tranny fits and works with the motor then hey use it and see if you can awd your car. There are some NTs that came AWD from Europe and could work some pics would be good if you can.
