There were some differences between the 98-99 motors and the 95-97 motors.
Also, according to the surveys that were done on CW and all 7 bolt motors, it seems that somewhere around 80% (can't remember the exact figure, but this is close) of all CW victims were owners of 95-97 years. A very small percentage were 1g 7 bolts, and an almost as small number were 98/99 motors. There were a couple registered cases of 6 bolts walking, but that was 1% or so.
I couldn't tell you why, but the numbers say they did something differently/made some changes.
When I was looking at that thread about the crank walk percentages and stuff, I noticed there was alot more 95-96's that voted, Raising hte percentage that walked compared to the amount of votes of the other years.
