Just finished dropping a JDM EVO 1 engine in my talon.
I eliminated the balance shafts and hooked up a B&M super cooler oil cooler.
Other than that the motor is stock. It has a new timing belt and new timing components. Everything fell within spec when I did the timing.
There is a high pitched whine that varies with RPM. Timing belt still looks good so I don't think it's rubbing on anything. I also made sure to put the smaller bolts for the pan under the belt as to not chew it up. Is this just a normal oil pump noise? Video doesn't do the noise justice - it's louder in person.
DSM timing belt noise. Is this abnormal? - YouTube
Here's a video in cab with some light revs.
