Ever since I bought the car there has been this plug underneath my steering column and I always thought nothing of it until I wanted to put my turbo timer there. I traced the wires back to this box. I unplugged all the wire and the car won't start. On the bottom of the box it says "Any problems please contact dealer" which makes me think that it is stock. Have any of you guys seen anything like this? When I unplugged everything then plugged the wires back in my idle went from 800 to 2200 and kept going up. I don't know what this thing is.

That was my only guess.

What is the plug thing for?

How does the alarm work?
I have never had any problems starting the car.

How expensive do you think it was?

Should I have keyless entry or anything with that or not?

I've looked all over it and I can't find anything that would identify the producer. The only thing that I could see since this looks pretty simple is, the plug is for a switch to plugged into and you can make it so the car won't start. Which is pretty obvious I guess. I don't have the switch so there wouldn't be any reason to keep it on there. would there?

Well, you could use it as a safety thing if you leave your car in a shady area....unplug it and put the plug far away so somebody stealing it can't see it and just plug it in and the car will be there when u return even if the window is broken and the steering column is cracked.

So your saying just hide that plug thing underneath the molding or next to were the box is so know one can find it. Then just unplug the plug from the box, which would be kind of like flipping the kill switch?

What about my idle jumping to 2200 do you think that is because I unplugged all of them? Hopefully unplugging my battery will reset the idle otherwise I don't know what to do.

Yeah i mean use that box as a kill switch if it doesnt allow the car to start when unplugged.

Explain the idle thing, i'm lost.

That definatley looks like an alarm because I had one that looked exactly like that in my steering column.
what brand was that? i have the same "black box". maybe i can reuse it again:D

When I bought my car, my aftermarket alarm was in the same place. Probably just a common spot to put it in I would ASSume.

What exactly does this "switch" bypass? Alot of the time they just bypass the starter, which is pointless on a car thats std. as they can still just bump start the car. But ya defently not factory, do you have a factory keyless remote?
