whats up guys, haven't posted on here in a while, been very busy at nissan and what not.

Let me start off by saying i own a 99' mitsu eclipse GST. The car has 134k miles on it right now. WHen i purchased it, it had around 133k. Bought the car with a blown turbo and a few cosmetic problems. kid before me was driving around with low oil for a while(shot turbo seals). had to drive around with the blown turbo for a bit since i was low on money. Bought the new turbo(b16g) and then i decided to do my oil pan gasket while i was doing the turbo swap just as safe measures. I drop the oil pan and find all of the old turbo's seals and clips in the pan. Definetly not good. I put maybe a few hundred miles at most on the new turbo and one day this knock came out of no where. Pulled cylinder #3 plug wire and knock went away. brought car to my work, dropped the oil pan and replaced all the connecting rod bearings. Being dumb, i went ahead and replaced the bearings even though the crank had pretty bad scoring on it(on all journals). after doing this, i installed my new o2 housing w/ dump tube and my 3" down pipe. Started it up and there was no knock to be heard. Started driving around a little bit, (2-3) miles then i started to rev it up a little higher, around 4k. I finally opened it up all the way and the turbo puled hard but it crept to 20+ psi. I hit fuel cut and the car almost sounded like it was bouncing off the limiter pretty fast. tried to boost it again but with less throttle and it still crept and would fuel cut. After this 2nd time i was coasting in 3rd gear or so and i pushed the clutch in and just coasted down the road. The engine turned off without me realizing it until i had to move the steering wheel and realized i had no Power steering LOL! Slowly let out the clutch and bump started it, gave it some gas and it wouldn't go anywhere then it finally started to drive and i was about to get up to the stop sign when my motor started to knock again!! This is when i just drove back to my house(around a mile)and just parked up the car. Today was the first time I've really touched it in a few months now. I have a video of the engine bay with it running for you guys to listen to. Here is the link. latesteclipsenoise.mp4 video by sandman817 - Photobucket

I know everyone hates seeing people post up about OMG ITS CRANKWALK or something along the lines of that, i want to say this is more rod knock than anything. I already have plans for this motor as far as rebuilding it since i have been talking to the guys over at dsmgraveyard.

So thanks guys, i appreciate your help and if you have any questions just ask me and ill definitely be watching this thread

most def is bottom end knock bud i just pulled a 1g gsx last night was up to 2 am i just picked it up guy said spun baring i pulled head and noticed there was some valve's tapiing pistons my phones down or id have some picturs up i checkd oil def shavings noticeable so am getting to rip apart block hope its still good but def alota shavings ever were crank still turns

I had the same problem with my motor and I looked at my oil pan and it was full of metal. Your better off just getting a new motor. I found a good motor for 500 bucks and it would of cost me a lot more in parts and time to rebuild my old motor.

ya just get a good used motor, theres a guy down here on the Scranton-Wilkes Barre Craigslist with a full 7bolt motor for 350, at least last time i checked, id look into it and road trip with a truck and theres your fix for 350 and 2-3 days time.

you definitely dont need a new motor dude. that was the worst mistake i made when i got rod knock.. im about 5k into the 6 bolt swap.. of course its fully built now.. but i wish i would have kept the 7 bolt.. especially because you have a late version of it. dont get a new motor.. just fix the one you have.

well ive decided i am going to pick up a frankenstien short block from dsmgraveyard and send my block in as a core. i was going to rebuild the current motor i have but with all the downtime from the machine shop and how incredibly expensive they are i just cant have my motor completely taken apart at my shop

yea for sure man, ive been talking with jon and brandon over at dsmgraveyard and they are a huge help. going to be ordering the short block this upcoming week and get some other goodies for the car while im at it :D
