Is this normal?

As i go through the gears 1-4 after about 4000-4500rpms in my 92 tsi, it loses power and i need to shift. It goes like hell up till then, but then it seems to wind down, not that i would want to do it all the time or anything, but meaning i could never really redline it. Almost like it loses gas flow or something??

Ok it could be that its to early in the morning to think ok, but could you try to explain this a lil better?

Well do you mean like there is a noticable loss of power and your car won't accelerate anymore...or do you mean it stops pulling like it does in the lower rpms..Because if you say the 2nd option that might just be because the stock turbo doesn't have much top end.

Yeah. Back when I had a stock car ...the power always seemed to fall off up in the higher RPM range. It dosent do much good to rev the car past 5500RPM... there is just not alot of power up past that point.

If you know for sure, that the car is 100% stock... then most likly that is just how it is.

It may also be your turbo going bye bye... When my T-25 was about to go bye bye it still had some power in the lower rpms but as the car revved up the power was gone only week after that i started seeing smoke... It's never a bad thing to check your turbo fins and for any shaft play...

I don't believe it's my turbo, cause i checked it a few weeks ago and it was fine, the car burns oil, and i have noticed my valve cover gets oil in it from time to time, i used to think it came from my oil cap, but i replaced it, i still don't know where the oil is coming from, it's never alot, but it's there.. And my idle has been messing up, sometimes after i start it, it will die or the needle will go up and down between 1000-2500 rpm when i'm stitting at a red light..
