Is this an ok way to rewire the fuel pump

I've never seen anyone do a rewire like this. I used the black/green stripe wire under the center console and ran a wire from it to the fuel pump.
I know this that stock wire eventually gets to the fuel pump, but I don't know if I am bypassing anything important in between.
It seems to work.

Did some more install work today.
Everyone I've ever seen just uses the stock fuel pump wire to trip a new relay and wiring they run to the pump.
I didn't feel like adding another relay so I went in to the center console and found the big gold multi position relay(see pic)

I actually kept the stock power wire that runs the fuel pump, then also ran this wire spiliced in to it in parallel from the center console all the way to the fuel pump. And by all the way I mean a new stud installed on the fuel pump cover and everything.

Lastly I took a kenne bell boost-a-pump and wired both wires to go through it and hid it behind the panel.
The dial you can see behind the panel is set on full and the boost reference is wired together so it runs full blast all the time.
This ought to pretty much be overkill now. :D

first off the purpose of a rewire is to put all the load on a larger wire to prevent voltage drop.the only problem i see is you are still using stock wiring with other load on it that will experience voltage drop. it is best to go straight to the battery. a rewire kit is less than 20 bucks on ebay and comes with everything you need.
 
You could cut the stock wire at this point and the pump would still work so a voltage drop across the stock wire is really no big deal. I just want to make sure that wire I am splicing in to under the center console is the main wire that the fuel pump draws it's load from and not some lesser wire that trips another relay or something I am bypassing.
 
boost-a-pump does 17 volts.
That's 35% more then what any rewire can do ;)
A rewire won't have near the same gains and it certainly won't always hold that 13.5v at WOT.
A 255lph pump will never get over 255lph on a rewire.
It will get over 300lph on the boost-a-pump.
 
Did you upgrade the ground wire at all? The problem is that the car can't carry the current at xx voltage through the stock wiring. It's like trying to drink a milkshake through a juice box straw. Now you solved the problem of opening that "straw" up, but the returning straw can't flow that power.

Upgrade the ground wire (for assurance) and you should be good to go.

I didn't know that the boost-a-pump was a step-up transformer.
