I was had before on a deal similar to this. Seller listed it as a stock turbo off of his 1g talon, said he didn't know much about turbos. You could see in the pictures it was an evo3, real mhi. It was blown to shit. The only usable parts were the wastegate, and turbine housing.

selller claims to be in good working condition as an evo 3 16g. Also i also was a victim of being sold a destroyed 14b, Claimed to be rebuildable, boosted fine, and had exesive shaft play. The turbo had so much shaft play that it ate into the shaft, ate into the bearing rides on the middle case, and atle threw every part of the turbo. (The worse 14b i saw was when the rear bearing locked up and rung off the exhaust wheel. When i took that one apart there was no sign of the thrust plate.) LUCKILY he offered to send me a PARTS turbo for 10 dollars, and it turned out that the parts turbo, was in awesome condition the only think wrong with the parts turbo was that it injested some debree but it wasnt bad. I rebuilt it and threw it on my car and it boost awesome!! NOT bad for 35 shipped to my door for a good 14b and a destroyed 14b.

Have him remove the compressor housing and show you / measure the compressor wheel inducers / exducers. that's the only way to know for sure what kind of compressor it has.

But it's 1000% a DSM turbo and this guy has no idea what he's trying to sell. I would stay away.

He said hes selling if if a friend. and if you look at the way that its rotated, it was rotated flow downward for a front mount. The guy told me that it was on his friends 2g and that it is an evo 3 16g now and that he listed it wrong and listed it for a friend. its not a 14b, i can tell by the size of the compressor housing.

...well it does have a taper at the compressor inlet which isn't found on 14B's; but aside from that the covers are identical so I have no idea what you're talking about here.

ive heard about boring out a 14b compressor housing to use a 16g wheel compressor wheel. That means the compressor housing intake hole size is bigger right? or am i wrong?

Well obviously. The inlet size among other things will grow.

Here's an 18G compressor stuffed inside a 14B cover:

The inside diameter of the inlet, it necks down, looks like its for sure not any type of 16g to me.
I thought the 14b's have that taper? Shit I've got 3 of them sitting in the garage...

It looks like it was sleeved though. The od of a 14b intake is about 51mm, not enough to bore out for a 18g, With a 50.6mm inducer.
