Is this a real MHI Big 16G

Yeah knock off, its really a toss up with those turbos. I have known guys with xspower turbos that last a year or two, some go in a month. You get what you pay for.

mine works fine, great spool up and it came with a warranty, not even the MHI's come with those.

You only need a AFPR if you go with a 255hp pump because the pump will overrun your injectors. 550 injectors will be good 190 re-wired will do the trick unless you want more later on then step up to the 255 with afpr, a full exhaust wont hurt either. Also before all that you should already have a MBC, Boost gauge, and Logger :thumb:

PS. Do a search on SSautochrome and you'll find out for yourself what kind of products they make.

Dude, don't bump threads. There are 10 of thousands of threads on this forum and if everyone bumped their threads imagine what a clown show it would become.

There's the Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) Evo III 16g, which is genuine.
The turbo in your ad, the "Evo III GT", is a knock off that is not made by Mitsubishi.

Turbochargers.com has a write-up about it here:
http://www.turbochargers.com/evo316g.htm

When it first came out, a lot of people attacked it, and from what I can tell it was mostly ignorant "it's not genuine so it's crap" line of thinking. But it seems like a lot of retailers are selling it, for example RRE sells both.

So for me it's a pros vs. cons game. The real MHI EvoIII is a real mitsubishi part, well proven. But the EvoIII GT knock-off has some nice little extras (already-ported turbine housing, 34mm wastegate). So if I wanted trust without worrying about money, I'd get a MHI EvoIII and get it ported, etc, and know that I can trust it. If I were more concerned with money, I'd get a EvoIII GT for cheap off ebay and run it till it splits in half (see threads about SSautochrome's horrible turbo reputation).

Anything new/unproven is suspect. But the EvoIII GT's have been out there for a while and I can't find definitive information that would make me believe it is inferior.

But, you're going through an ebay retailer. Regardless of what they're selling, just be careful with that.

yeah that turbo isnt even the EVO GT I have the GT from TC.com for about 6months now and its still running strong. I do boost every chance i get also so the turbo is holding its own. The one that you have is really a no frills brand..I wouldnt buy it.

I'm not bumping threads. How many people have asked about this exact same item from ebay. And IMO, if you dont have anything informative to say, then send me a pm.

Yea, but do they come with peice of mind? I'd rather spend the extra cash and know that im getting something that isnt known to fail.

I wasn't directing toward you, a member bumped a couple threads and I told him not to. Then he deleted his post. You wouldn't want your thread to be locked because some jackass can't read the rules.

That is not even an evo3 gt. That is ssautochromes version of of the evo3, not the turbochargers.com gt. I personally would not buy that turbo.

Ahh, I never realized this. I always assumed SSauto was reselling the Evo3 GT. So now we're talking about a knock-off of a knock-off? Crazy.

Can someone confirm that the SSauto is not the turbochargers.com Evo III GT? This completely changes my thoughts on ebay turbos (which wasn't that high to begin with).
