is this a good turbo?

i am looking to purchase this setup and i am unfamiliar with this turbo. i am wondering if it was a good one or not.

Stainless steel 321SS turbo manifold (includes gaskets)

Hybrid T3/T4 T04E 5-bolt Turbocharger( .50 Compressor A/R / .70 Turbine A/R)

Tial Style 38MM Polished Wastegate (incredibly loud! comes with adaptor and plate)

Sound like you are describing the kits on ebay, if so, no its not a good turbo. There is more to a turbo than that. You may want to look around some on the forums and find what turbo will be right for you, or let us know what your goals are and we can try and suggest some turbos to fit your needs. Don't forget you will need much more than just another turbo.

Where are you looking at this turbo? It is generally a "buy at your own risk" deal with used turbos that may have flaws. If this turbo/manifold/wastegate combo is on a website, the friendly community here will be able to tell you if the site is trustworthy or not.

You should probably look for a turbo manifold that would mate this turbo first. And stated ealier, ebay sells crap for turbos; don't bother walking down that road.

it was a combo on ebay along with a front mount intercooler. i was unfamiliar with the turbo. i also purchased dsmlink and am goin to install that soon. i am not wanting massive horsepower, but just a comfortable 350whp. i dont think i can do that with a big 16g. thats why i was looking around for another turbo.i was have 255 fuel pump and am goin to purchase larger injectors. thats what i am shooting for.

Sure does. I think you would be surprised at what you can get out of the 16g/evo 16g even. I don't know of many people ever saying that they didn't like that turbo. It will get you atleast close to your goal and the spool up characteristics are great. I think for your goals I would sacrifice a little power for quicker spool. Otherwise I would look at a 50 trim from a well known company, not ssautochrome or cheap ebay knockoffs.

Turbo will not bolt onto your manifold with out an adapter or a whole other t3 manifold. Not only that the 5-bolt patern on the outlet is meant for a ford turbo setup. Will not allow you to bolt your o2 housing to that turbo. You'll have to figure that into the cost as well.

But the kicker is the .70 a/r ratio for the hotside. that is not a turbonetics or a Garrett a/r ratio for a t3. ...Nevertheless, it will be a slow spooler for sure... In all likelyhood, you can get away with a smaller hot side and not lose any up top.
