Is this a 2nd gen or 1st Gen head

I am purchasing a engine from a guy I know he is shipping it to me.

This head he said it was a 2nd gen head it looks pretty much just like my 1st gen.

The really only difference you can tell are the intake runners ,thermostat housing casting on side of head and casting number but the intake runners is a dead give away. You gave us two pictures that don't show any of the above more pics would help.

Look at the front of the head by the timing belt. You should see a 2" long "plate" in the casting above the #1 and #2 exhaust ports. On that "plate" there will be a drill mark. If it's on the right hand side of the plate it's a 1g head. If its on the left hand side and there is a nipple in the middle of the "plate" you have a 2g head. See pic below for reference.

Seems the picture is dead there, but here's another (2G on top, 1G on bottom). Hint, I'm pretty darn confident it's a 2G head. Plus, you can see the additional bosses for the thermostat housing hanging off to the side in the exhaust side picture the OP provided. ;) I am wondering why there's a huge bolt plugging that oil hole at the top left, though.
