Is there a use for a BOV if you're not upgrading the turbo?

Plus that stock UICP is nothing less than a total piece of crap. Look into a Greddy IC pipe kit (upper and lower), they're great for the price.

dejon tool and david brode are cheaper nad hte same quality..

but as htey said, if your planning on increasing boost even with a stock turbo id go for a new one due to the leaking

can you link me to those pipe kits?

If you are running a turbo you will need a bov. A bov releives the built up boost pressure so you don't get compressor surge and crap your turbo out.

He knows this.. he's asking whether a BOV upgrade is even needed if still on the stock T-25.

So these are better than Greddy IC pipe kits and what exactly does this kit do for me?
It replaces the piece of crap plastic UICP that comes stock on the 2g turbos. Neither the Greddy kit or the Brode kit are 'better' than one another (almost positive they're the same size hardpipe). If you throw a K&N filter on along with a new BOV and this D.Brode UICP, you'd be amazed how much of a difference it makes. Plus, with all three of those (should be less than $150 if you find a used 1g BOV) you'll def. hear your turbo a lot more, then you'll catch the mod bug and won't be able to stop :D

Hey don't hate I just answer his question, he didn't state that use of a upgraded BOV. just being literal

I'm not hating, the thread title is "Is there a use for the BOV if you're not upgrading the turbo?", and it was answered in the first reply that the stock 2g BOV leaks and needs to be replaced anyhow. Sorry ya took it the wrong way..

i never said better...i just said they have a better price and are the same thing

I replaced the UICP and BOV on my 2g with a Brode pipe and 1g BOV and it made a HUGE noticeable difference.

The Brode kit is just the UICP I think.. the Greddy kit comes with the LICP and the elbow to the throttle body as well, but those parts can be picked up for dirt cheap almost anywhere. Go with the Brode.

Just making sure here, LICP and UICP? So I am buying a UICP kit but it just comes with an LICP? that a typo or whats a LICP? what other things would I need to pick up cause I am ordering these parts than having them sent to another country to have done where my car is.

UICP - upper intercooler pipe, it's the pipe that goes from the top of your SMIC (sidemount IC) to either your flex piping just above the BOV, or to the throttle body (depends on which UICP). The LICP is the lower intercooler pipe and goes from the side of your SMIC to your turbo. The LICP is just two 90* bends, hence why it's more worth it just to buy two bends from wherever and fab. it yourself, it's not worth the extra dough. The LICP really isn't needed THAT bad until later.

So I am having a hard time deciding but I don't want to pay over $180 the Greddy Type S/RS BOV and theTurboXS's are in this price range, what would you guys go with or reccomend if it's any of these or something else you could think of

I can't find a link to it, but I remember reading that someone dynoed the stock LICP vs an aftermarket hard pipe and found no noticeable difference. Anybody know what I'm talking about?
