Is there a cheap way to drop in a 4g64 with Turbo head?

Montreal,
Hi all.,
I swear I searched and got no picture on this.

I have 2g TSI all stock with crankwalking engine, not too bad, it didn't get any worse in last 4 months that i had it but anyway, I wish to have a little more torque for city driving without spooling up all the time.

I want to drop a 4g64 or G4CS or whatever, either 6 or 7 bolt, I was wandering, did this engine exist in a such a configuration that would allow me to keep it's stock pistons and have permissible Compression ratio? Baiscally i wish to avoid opening the engine and messing with it and especially not spending more money.

I know, many of you will tell me 'Do it right the first time' but I'm still asking.
Most of you guys here are aiming for high hp numbers and big turbos, me I plan to keep the stock T25 on it and run close to stock boost. I just want another engine to replace my crank walking 7 bolt.

Thanks a lot!

6 bolt 4g64s are getting harder to find. The 7bolt 4g64s are very plentiful in the Galant and will bolt in with the same mounts. When you install your turbo head you have to lay your head gasket on the block .You'll see you have extra oil drains in the block that need to be plugged with small freeze plugs. The compression is about 9 to 1.

from what i gather you want to keep the higher compression of the 7 bolt motor in a different motor due to crank walk in yours. the easiest and cheapest thing for you to do is either get a 7 bolt and just replace it with a chance of crank walk, or get a 6 bolt motor and mate the 6 bolt big rods with the 2g pistons, this will give you the higher cr that you are looking for, putting in a different motor is not the direction you want to go with this. hope this helps.

I'll try to make myself a little clearer now.

I'm NOT looking for high compression.
What I"m looking for is to avoid swaping stock 4g64 pistons with aftermarket ones. i want to keep the 2.4 the way it is and just slap my 2g turbo head on it.
I,m asking about compression because I seem to find posts where people mention that keeping stock 2.4 pistons will result in extra high compresison such as 11:1 something.

To resume, I wanted to know, which 2.4 from which car can be used without changing the pistons and what CR it will give.

Thanks

The car you're going to find drop in motor from,is the 95 to 99 Galant .Even though the vin# on the later ones is also a g code(8th letter of the vin a g)The motor is on the passenger side. You can also get the same motor out of a 96 to 99 NA Spyder,Also a g code.Same motor as the Galant mounted in a 2g,same mounts.Unless the chambers on the turbo head are way smaller than the single cam head ,I don't see how the compression is going to be higher than the stock 2.4.Although I don't know the volumes of both heads.Anybody out there got a burette.

Thanks a lot!
Any body got some compression ratios numbers?
I mean, if it would result in something like 9:1 - is not too high for turbo engine, right? I mean, for daily driven almost stock boost.
One bad thing is that in Canada we didn't have mitsubishis before 2000, so no galants, nor spyders. We did have sonatas with that engine.
My parts software at work lists 89-93 with g4cs engine. Everywhere I look on the net, everywhere it says that 91 was last year with that engine. Maybe Canada got 2 more years, or there is an error in parts software. But if there really is a g4cs in 92-93, that should be a 7 bolt I suppuse - which would be good for me.

I really would like to know if original 2.4 pistons can be used with 2g turbo head.

I looked it up.The Galant and Sptder 2.4 are 9.5 to 1 compression. If the turbo head comb ustion area volume is the same as the single cam head the compression will be the same. The only way to know for sure is to cc the chambers of both heads
