I've always had a problem with my trunk shocks holding up the stock high rise spoiler. I bought some different ones off a 2ga (with low spoiler) that held his up fine. Put them on my car and they didn't hold.

Anyone else have this problem?

A common problem with dsm's is the hatch struts..Maybe you should just invest in buying new ones..There is a tech article somewhere about fixing the struts, but I've never actually looked into it..

Haha vice grips. I'm not too worried about it at the moment, it can get really annoying when it doesn't open all the way though. I find my self pulling the trunk lever, walking to the trunk and it doesn't open, go back and pull the lever...

I thought this was going to be a topic about a ricer wing.

I had the same problem, I thought my hatch was too heavy so I bought a carbon fiber hatch and had my glass and spoiler installed on it but the problem remained. It turns out my hatch struts were just bad....

... just kidding.. LOL. On a serious note, my hatch struts have been bad since I got the car. (like 4 years now?) I honestly have never wanted to spend the money to replace them, I always buy other things.

Sort of on topic though, my friends 97 has what feels like a fiberglass hood on it, it's super light compared to my 96 metal hood and his appears to be completely stock. It's painted the factory color, has the factory decals and emissions diagrams on the underside. Not sure if it came from the factory like this or if someone just went to an extensive amount of trouble to make it look like it did.

I was hoping to get people with the title. :shhh:

I too always end up buying something other that trunk struts, thought these would work, he let me take em for 10 bucks so why not. And I always use my head as a prop, something other than it would be nice though.

^ sounds like its carbon fiber just painted over and also i think that someone either tried to be unique and buy all the stock decals from the dealership or too much time on their hands.

To the OP from what your describing it sounds like your hatch struts are blown like everyone else is saying
