Is my UICP too big? Does it matter?

I have been having trouble with my UICP always freaking blowing off. I looked at dsmreviews for what other people said about the Greddy set and they all liked them. However, mine doesn't have a lip or anything on the ends of them, so I think I got ripped off. I just now realized this a year after I bought them. I first really thought about it when I bought some better material for a sleeve to hold them together and the guy measured a real Greddy pipe that had a lip on it, and it measured 2 1/4 inches. The sleeve I bought was that size, but it's too small for my pipe. Mine is about 1/8 bigger around. Does that matter? When I first put it on last year, I was spiking to about 16~17 psi, now I can only hit 13, but I think my turbo is on the way out. Could the pipe have had anything to do with that spike? Did I in fact get ripped off? Sorry for the long post. I think I put all the info I can think of. Thanks

If your piping isn't beaded on the ends it WILL blow off.

Good couplers/clamps will go a long way as well.

i dont think it makes a diff.... id check for leaks myself.
If it wont stay on get a longer coupler or spray the pipe with hair-spray(under the coupler) and let it cure for a few hours.

I did buy some stuff for a new coupler, but it was too small. Some 4-layer radiator hose or something like that. Either way, I used that on my lower pipe (another size of course) and that thing is freaking glued on there. I have no worries about my lower one coming off. I had a bead run around that one, too, though. Maybe I will just have the upper one done too. Also, the intercooler inlet elbow is smaller than the pipe, where can I get a better coupler that goes down in size? Thanks

I have seen guys that used JB weld for a bead. It worked for them.

or

You can take it to a shop and they can put one around the pipe for a minimal charge.

I will probably just have that done then, but I still don't like the couplers that came with it.

If they hold, they hold ya know. Don't get locked up in the ply count and T-bolts. If the part is doing its job day in and day out go with it.

i would take it somewhere and have them bead the tips or you can use some jb weld and do it yourself. boosting pipes with no sort of bead will pop them right out.

Alright, well I used some JB Weld for the beads around my pipes. I am impressed. First time I have hit full boost more than 3 times without at least one of my pipes coming loose and causing a leak.

Anyway: I finally made my leak tester, and tested everything with the new beads on, and the only leak I have is coming from the BOV gasket. So I am going to take it off and put some RTV sealant on it and hope that will solve it. My question is this, do I put the sealant on both sides of the gasket? I looked at the VFAQ and see it on the BOV side, but I couldn't really tell if it meant to put it on the pipe side too? Do I? Also, if it wasn't for that leak, how would the air be escaping the system? <---- that's an extremely noob question.

Anybody? I just need to know if I put RTV sealant on the BOV gasket, does it go on both the BOV side and IC pipe side? The VFAQ didn't make it very clear. Thank you..

use a little bit on both sides. i used a dab and smeared it to get full coverage on the ic side, then put the gasket on, then put some sealent on the bov side, again a dab and smear it to get full coverage, then i put them together and bolted it in.
