I've been having some problems with my idle lately.sometimes when i start my car the idle is normal, but sometimes the rpms are high.when this happens the rpms stay.sometimes the rpms would fluctuate.I'm thinking its the tps,but I'm not sure.let me know what you think.thanks

Its probably not a throttle postion sensor.
Check the Idle control screw, that is located on the left side of the intakemanifold, closer to the throttle body. There is an O-ring in there and it tends to leak and cause idle problems. I would look there first.

If not the BISS screw then look towards the ISC (Idle Speed Control) motor. It controls the speed of the engine at idle. This part isnt TOO rare to go but it has seen replacement often.

good luck man.

i dont think it would be the tps because it doesnt even really take effect until you push the pedal down but i blocked off my egr valve and had to get something reset in my ecu i dont know if thats your problem i just thaought i would throw it out there:D

I'd check the IAC motor first unfortunately I forget how I checked mine. Also check for a vaccum leak/boost leak, my old GP had a bad intake manifold gasket and it did the same thing your describing only when it got warm it would quit surging, I assume because of the expansion when everything got hot. It got so bad that when you started it it would idle up really high (3000) and then die. Try spraying a little carb cleaner around your intake mani, vac lines, piping, anything that could be a vac leak/boost leak, just don't spray too much you don't need a fire. Give these a try and let us know.

ok,i adjusted my idle control screw and mostly cleaned my throttle body out.my idle is now at 1100 rpms.i can get it down to 800 rpm if i push the throttle back.but its sticky when i press the gas.i need to clean the throttle body some more and it should be fine,i hope.

almost there.on idle, the rpms flucuate 200 rpms from where its supposed to be.how can i fix this
