Is my oil pressure sender suppose to do this? {pix}

So this happened awhile go just havent asked questions...so i ordered a glowshift digital blue oil pressure gauge i hooked it up worked fine...

for about 3 weeks mayb and then i started getting all kinds of readings going up and down and sometimes would just read default number like 145 or some junk so i checked out the sending unit and this is what i found....

Did i install it wrong is there a way to avoid this if i order a new sending unit? or does anybody know a quality sender i can buy thats compatible with the glowshift and 1g dsm thanks.

Ive had a glowshift sender on my 2g for over a year with no problems. Is there a possibility you hit or ran over something that could have ripped the top off like that? I mean even a plastic grocery bag going like 45 mph could rip that off if it hit it right.

Id send an email to glowshift with those pictures, im sure they'll do something about it.

I think the problem with it is just the location of the sender in general. When you ditch the stocker and get the aftermarket with posts like that it becomes almost the lowest point from the motor. I was worried about mine hanging low when I installed it, but haven't had an issue.

It was kinda tucked away i cut into the core support bar and it would of hit the support not the sender but thanks, ill send it glowshift see what they say

it's almost like there was to much pressure built up and blew out the bottom or something

Well, oil doesnt fill up that entire housing, it gets converted to an electric signal and that cap is just the posts and cap for them to put it all together. Oil wouldnt blow out of the top of that.

Maybe the oil sender port is different from 1g to 2g? Because my oil sender comes out and forward on like a 45* angle facing forward. I dont know what support you speak of because mine is just out in the open, nothing around it. And maybe if its as close as you say to said support, you could have a bad motor mount and the motor moved enough to pop that top off by hitting the support?

Contacted glowshift they are sending me a new sending unit that was quick and easy good company no questions asked after i emailed them a couple photos.

hmm not sure i'll double check the clearance when i install the new one make sure its not gonna hit anything

yea not supposed to do that at all , unfortunately looks like something hit it , whas it facing down on the support to where it could hasve hit if the engine moved to much from bad motor mounts?

If it was installed directly into the oil filter housing, the vibration could have caused it.

I was kinda going off pic two where it looks like it could have been hitting somthing at the tips of the posts... just the tip
