hey guys I have a big problem with my car. It started out when i put the clutch in to downshift it would stall out on me. After a little while of this it started to make a really bad knocking noise in the lower part of the engine when it was at idle, Now it makes a horrible, loud rattle sound somewhere in the head. Ihad a mechanic look at it but hes not to sure what it is. I have a 1990 talon tsi AWD with about 125,xxx miles on it. I had the timing belt done about 3 months ago and it ran great after that was done untill now. If anybody knows what could be wrong please let me know.

Have you done a compression or leakdown test yet? IF not try that and it should tell you the problem!

I finally got a chance to do a compression test on my car and it was 130-130-125-125. Thats not to bad is it?? My mechanic is still confused on what is wrong with it so any help I get for u guys would be awsome.

Perhaps a balance shaft bearing. Draing the oil and inspect the oil for silvery shine. Drop the oil pan and look for shards or a mangled bearing.
