well i bought my talon in august/septemberish 2003 week after we bought it I did a compression test however I let my dad in law do everything cause we were at his house so i cranked and he told me the PSi of each cylinder and they were aroudn 150 110 130 145 something around that dont remember exactly however last week at work i did the compression test and had a co-worker crank it and i got 165, 160, 165, 155 .

Now thats pretty ####ing good I think. Im not sure what could cause my dad in law to fook up so bad, but what do you guys think?

Now im thinking the smoke out my tailpipe that happens rarely could be my turbo instead of my headgasket i can see me now "honey im gonna have to buy a evo 16g because my T25 is dieing on me" :thumb: :talon: :thumb:

What color is the smoke? White/sweet smelling smoke = head gasket, but black/dark smoke, especially under boost = turbo oil seals (your turbo is burning oil). If your turbo is burning oil, CHECK YOUR OIL LEVEL RIGHT NOW!!! It happens too much - people's turbos burn their oil up, and guess what? They end up on the side of the road with a seized engine and half a quart of oil left. Also drain out your oil and look for any coolant/water, if there is coolant/water mixed in then your HG is shot. It sounds like its your turbo, because you said the rare tailpipe smoke, which would sound to me like it happens when you boost. So go boost it up a bit ;) and see if it smokes! Good luck!

If it was my headgasket would I be putting out white smoke all the time or only under boost? Because that would make sense that it was my turbo because i dont see smoke very often even when boosting.

If it was the HG you would be putting out white smoke all the time (burning coolant). If it was the turbo you would be putting out black smoke only under boost (burning oil). Not sure what white smoke only under boost is.

Wait it is dark, from what ive seen personally in my review mirror its been dark sorry for the confusion. Sounds like ive figured it out then, wonder why the hell my compression test the first time was so off...... anyways thanks for the headsup on the turbo

Speedfreak I changed the oil not too long ago maybe month and half, what would i be looking for to see coolant in my oil, is it thinner or look differant? Is it obviously noticable cause Im pretty sure i would have noticed but it looked like normal dirty oil to me :D

Yea it would be noticeable, imagine mixing water in with your oil, it would be thinner, and probably smell funny (sweet from the coolant).

Anyway if its dark then oil is being burnt, and if its white then coolant is being burnt. Sounds like turbo oil seals to me, anyway how old is the turbo? 9 years old? Yea Id say its beat. Don't replace it with another T25 tho, if your car is pretty much stock then go with a used 14B ($100-200) or if you have some supporting mods then go with the slowboy racing EVO-16G ($550 I think).

If u have a blown headgasket, then your oil would turn into a white smush stuff. U might also have overheating if it's blown? I know mine is blown becuase i got the white goo in my g2 fuel filter that's attached to a hose that runs to my valve cover for breathing. I added some sealer and it's temporarily fixed the problem!!

wow all this time due to a incorrect compression test I thought I had a blown head. But my oil looks nothing like white slush or white or even discolored at all, looks just like plain oil. New turbo sounds nice :thumb: I got almost every supporting mod neccesary except the walbro 190. which should be easy to install, ive read the vfaq on it a few times now. :talon: :talon: :talon: :thumb:

The first comp test could have been done with a different gauge or possibly the engine had been sitting for some time . You might have cranked it over longer on the second test .

Yea I was thinking about that and It was probobly not completely warmed up because we did it after it had been in the garage sitting while we changed the oil so that is probobly what happened. this time I let it warm up completely.
