alright so there has been some questioning between myself and the people who I purchased my 98 gsx from.

he payed for a 6 bolt swap, however everything i can see from the exterior of the engine, oil pan and head studs for instance, are telling me that the block is a seven bolt.

Im trying to find away to track the serial numbers back to a chasis number.

does anyone know a way this can be done so I know if i need to pull the transmission out for some proof?

My mechanic swears that there is no way this is a 6 bolt engine.

alright so it turns out the block is the only thing from a 6 bolt on the motor.
they re-used the oil pump and pan???

I cant figure out why they would do so.

So its a six bolt,

just a very poorly built one I guess.
there goes my money LOL
