is my crank pully cracked? (pics)

ok so i just cut my ac belt because it randomly sliped off. i wiggled the pully and it had some play to it. i took a closer look and it seems to be cracked. i turned the car on for a few min. the pully came together and does not have play to it at all. i turned it on again and smelled like burning plastic. seems as if the pully keeps getting closer and closer to the lower timing belt cover. here are some pics

if it is cracked should i go to my local napa/autozone and buy a new one? or get a lightweight aftermarket one? i am in a sort of budget let me know what you guys think!

There are bunches of them on the marketplace that are used for cheap. Thats what I would do if I had to worry about a budget. If not, look at getting a fluidamper then when you start making real power you won't have to worry about it. They are supposed to cover a lot wider range of harmonics than stock.

Yes it looks bad kind of looks like the rubber is ripped all the way around

Replace it before it damage your timing belt, i had an aluminum one for like 12k and never had a problem, but again my motor is 74k original miles on my gst, so your best bet is to buy an OEM one or one that is not a solid piece.
Take a look at Napa.

my motor only has 83k on it. just seems really weird how it has that crack all the way around

Well I can't tell in the pics if it is actually cracked or ripped but just kind of think mileage doesn't have a whole lot to do with it going bad. It is rubber inside there and just like a tire will get dry rot and cracked.
Did you check to make sure the crank and harmonic balancer bolts are tight?

seem as if i take the alt. belt off the top part would just come right off. i am going to try this tomarrow and see what happends

So your saying the outer ring on your crank pulley can move? If so then yeah its cracked all the way around.

ya in the 1st pic where that huge crack is from there to where the teeth is for the belts all moves in and out

took the belts off today and my pulley was trash. rubber was cracked all the way around (why did they even put rubber in it?) i was extemely lucky to find someone local that was selling one and for cheap. $50 cash and it turned out being a lighter weight unorthodox racing pulley in brand new condition!!! going to put it on tomarrow and see if i can feel a differance. probably wont tell till like a week after for my ecu recalibrates

what your seeing is the harmonic balancer, it has rubber around it to absorb the power pulses in the motor, it reduces powerpulses through the accessories and lowers shock on the engine itself as well, as far as a performance increase it will have a similar effect of a lightweight flywheel, but not as noticeable
