Is it worth the trouble/money installing a sunroof?

My 2g Talon didn't come with a sunroof obviously and my friend has the glass part of it. You think it's worth the hassle?

I really dont think its worth the hassle because its going to have to be some customized work that unless you plan on doing yourself will cost alot of money; which like others have said that money would have been better spent on some performance mods.

I agree with y'all also. Just sometimes I want a sunroof cuz it adds to the look. Y'all are right tho, it probably will cost a lot then I would have regretted it in the end.

If it was me I wouldn't do it. I think it is not worth the money for it, but you do what you think will please you the best. I would just rather spend the money of something more like a performance mod. :thumb:

I don't have a sunroof on my 98 and I'm happy. I wanted one for looks but the one in my 92 Eclipse leaked so bad, I'm glad my 98 doesn't have one.

I called one local shop and they quoted me $1200 to put one in. OMG. I say put it towards mods.

Really I thought all 2g AWD's had sunroofs.

Me being one of them

^^Then your in Luck, I just happen to have 1 for sale. LOL

But back to topic, my experience with people who installed roofs has been terrible. Yes they look nice, but if not done right, it will leak like crazy and your gonna join the "Duct tape" club. Like the above mentioned, spend the money on performance parts.

I second and third that thought.

In 20 some years of doing this for a living I came to the conclusion that almost all sunroofs and T tops were a head ache I could live without. They almost always leak, stop working in the open position, or someone tears the rubber and you can't find one on the face of the Earth.

Good Luck

Yeah my 95 gsx does not have a sunroof, I believe its the only option my car doesnt have.

My last 95 n/t did have one, and I can honeslty say that its something that I dont miss at all.

I have a sunroof but it does not work. The tracks are broken, so I am doing a weight saving mod of adding a piece of molded CF to the roof of the car and a few "L" shaped alumium brackets, then some JB weld and silicon. The company who makes them for a majority of hondas is based just down the street from me. The have ran them thru numerous automatic car washes and never seen one leak. Plus they lower the center of gravity in the car due to all the weight they remove. (track system and glass). http://www.lighterfaster.com/index2.html When they make the one for my car I will see about a production kit to save everyone else $100 (since the one off kit cost that much extra) since I know a majority of DSM sunroofs at one time or another fail to work. I just need to convince them that they are "in demand".

I have a sunroof and love it. No problems at all on the motor/opening and closing. Only problem I had was the cover that slides (as part of the headliner) kept getting jammed, so I took that out. The only real "leakage" I get is when I keep it cracked and it rains, once I get moving a lil water comes down. But, if its closed, no leakage/sealing problems at all. Besides, its always fun getting in front of someone and having your friend stand up through the sunroof :thumb: Not that I would ever condone that or anything :nono: Plus, the girlies love it ;) :talon:

Dont get us wrong, sunroofs are great to have but I dont think they are that great a thing in our cars. If the car didn't come with 1 it would be better to spend the money on performance parts.

But I got a sunroof in my camry and I love that thing!

All 2G GSX's come standard with MOONROOFS. :D

I hate mine during the rainy season. In California that's about 10 days. I have to endure a leaking car when Im dressed in a shirt and a tie for work.

It contributes to less rigidity BUT it looks good and comfortable in the summer. Running on the freeway, it's advised to roll up the window for gas mileage. I open up the moonroof instead of the A/C, saves gas and you get some sun.

Not worth the money, but if it came factory why not.
