Do you guys think I should rebuild the block I have with a 182,000 miles on it, or buy a new block. I just rebuilt the head a month ago. I did a compression test last week and it was from 153 - 156 all the way across. Great compression but, I wonder how much longer the block will last?? I dont know if it has every been re-ringed but the walls looked pretty good for having that many miles on it.

Go with Comp cam 200s, Hard IC piping, hard intake pipe with filter, port the intake mani, port the O2, and exhaust mani, and get a turbo back exhaust. If you dont have to go through emissions then get a cat delete, that will improve throttle response, and give to some more HP. Dont up the boost if you still have stock td05h(14b) and stock sidemount IC, you will lose power, and have knock with a much better chance of rebuilding the engine much sooner.

This isnt completely true, the stock sidemount has still been proven to handle over 250 hp/
Yes a front mount or bigger side mount will give him more hp per boost increase with less heat and knock, but raising the boost to a moderate level like 14 to 15 lbs will give him a nice amount of power and ( those boost figures have been noted on a stock fuel system )
If your talking about turning the boost higher than that then yea I agree with you wait till he gets other mods, but its proven he can raise the boost up to 15 and really the article I read said 16 I was just being corteous to his set up...
Plent of stock 1gers are running around on that boost and gained tons of power over stock from doing it without knock...
Now im not recommending him to turn boost up at all beyond the bcs mod without getting a logger to see whats going on in his engine, but im saying that he can if he really wanted to because the stock sidemount and turbo is still good at that point.

Please update your profile. What do you have for supporting mods? What turbo? 14b? Need more information. Also if you have a 14b with stock smic, you will notgo any faster due to the 14b is set to maximum efficencey by mitsu. If you just try to up the boost pressure this will merely cause the turbo to blow hot air, then in turn lead to knock, and possible grenading of your engine. So I hope you have other mods done so far.
WTF what are you talking about? then why are people turning low 12's and 20+ psi on the 14b with the stock sidemount? you will definately go faster by just upping the boost but i wouldn't recommend doing so without a logger to watch for knock.
