Is it safe to bore block .30 over???

ok i got a good deal on a set of ross pistons but the guy said there .30 over ........if i bore my block .30 over will last as long as a stock bore ???are there any down falls of boring .30 over?

Less to bore if you have to do it again because of a problem. I would always prefer to bore the minimum necessary to clean up the cylinders.

so it would be better to just to save and buy .20 mm over or stock bore pistons?

start at .20 in case of piston failures in future like detonation or something to give the block longer life, until you throw a rod out the block

You will be fine going 0.030" over.

You can un .030 over safely... but you are going to take a risk, that if anything bad happens to your block while the .030 overs are in there and you need to bore it some more, you WILL have to replace your block... If you take it easy on your car and use it as a dd then go ahead... if your using the car for racing and you push your car to its limits, don't do it....

Or he could re-bore to a .060 or .080 over.

.030 overbore is not a large amount. There's plenty room in there for a larger bore is something bad were to happen down the road. Most piston manufacturers offer product for bores larger than 3.376".

hell mines 87.5mm bore which is .80 over and i run 35 psi no problems

If you got a good deal on the .030" over pistons use them. There is no problem with it. I have run .040" with no problems. As Paul said you can remove quite a bit of material off the cylinder wall before you are going to have any issue's.

.030 will be fine. i too have seen quite a bit of .040 motors and there is no issues. lets face it, if its stock or .040 over, if something goes wrong with these engines its not common to be worried about cylinder walls than cracks on the side with a nice look at a rod

.030 over will be fine, I am at .020 and making alot more than 400 horse power just fine.

I garantee you someone has put down 800+ awhp on a .030 over engine. The biggest issue will be if they are not big enough to clean your cylinder bores.

a friend of mine ran 9.91 on a +.040 block .030 is no big deal

Take your pistons so they can bore the block to fit. They'll assign a piston to each cylinder to get the proper fit.

I had to bore my engine .040 over because of a deep gouge in the cylinder wall. and after my rebuild and had 6k on the new rebuilt engine and no problem. im pretty sure they allow .060 total on the turbo version block.
