is it realistic to make 350-400hp running a 16g? i know i can but is it realestic to run a 20g as a street car?:hellyeah:

it's laggy but to much.<-hope im right on that. as far as comfort and relibility if you keep the maintenance there should not be a problem.

The 20g is a great turbo for a FWD i think, its a great amount of power that can be reached along with the lag helps with not breaking the tires loose too soon.

350-400 on a 420a???

not on the stock bottom end i dont think it would be reliable LOL

Bench Racing;
1. To discuss the possible quarter-mile elapsed time (E.T.) of a car based on a list of modifcations or horsepower estimate.
2. To discuss the estimated output (in horsepower) of one engine versus another based on lists of modifications done to each engine.
3. To discuss "which is faster?" or "Which would win in a race?" between two cars, based on 1 and 2 above.

im doing a complete build forged internals and full head work and everything im puting 4,000 into my engine. and plan on another 3,000 for my turbo/fuel system set up i want to hit about 350-400 hp and im just not sure what turbo and what tuneing system to go with??? i need help

is the 20g over kill and im getting the turbo ported and clipped if i get the 16g is that a good idea?

Make sure u have all the supporting mods before u try and takle that 400Hp mark. Especially with a 16g. small 16g rated at 320 to the wheels and big16g is like 385hp. Every car is different so its really going to depend on your setup and TUNE.:tease:

I would say just get a 50 trim or a Holset HX35 if your dumpin all that money into building your car might as well go big and reach your goals without maxing out your turbo and blowing hot air. Just my 2 cents

I had similar goals for my 96 n/t before it was totaled:banghead: A 16g and a good tune should put you at the lower end of your hp goals. I was planning on going Holset with a good built bottom end and shooting for the 400+ hp range. The 420a crank balanced can hold up near the tune of 450+ hp reliably i've been told:hellyeah:

Hell Id say the 16g is just fine. You will have traction issues and that may be a reason to get a bigger turbo with lag, to help you hook up sooner before the real boost kicks in.

7 grand into a 420a... damn man.. If I had 7 thousand dollars to put into my gsx it would be a low 11 500+ hp beast.. what I am trying to say before you go that route seriously think about just selling that car and moving on the mitsubishi's best power plant.. 4G63!

+1
It takes too much money to make a reliable high power 420a. Sell it and get a turbo AWD DSM. You will regret it if you don't.

+1 for buying a awd

i understand when you have an idea and your mind is set it sucks to have people tell you that you should do something else but sometimes not wasting money is so much better buy an awd and you wont regret it.. my fwd talon is all stock with a apexi dp and thermal catback ...stock boost and it spins the tires all through first and half of second imagine a car fwd with 400hp.. just something to consider

like everyone else said, it is possible to make that kind of power with a 16 g but also if you are wanting a turbo car, it would be better to just try and find you a 4g63 turbo car and then build that, but if you are set on using your 420 a engine i say go for it.
