Ok guys i wanna know what suspensions your running on your 1gs. I've had the intrax springs that dropped the car about 1.75 all around. The shocks where stock and then i went to the kyb gr-2's. The rides like a tank to spite the new shocks! The car bounces at low speeds and bottoms out at high speeds when a bump comes along. I'm pretty sick of it. So I just wanna know what you guys are running whats working whats not. I'm looking for a nice ride in the city, that is low enough to make the 17's look like they are supposed to be there. Thanks for the help!
P.S Car looks great but rides like crap, i know there has to be a middle ground.

Stock to stock?

Im running agxs in the back and koni's in the front on my car with sprint 2 inch lowering springs. Its a stiff ride but not bouncy like your stock shocks are doing to you.

What I ment was that the stock shocks where in with the intrax springs at first and then i took out the stock shocks for the better kyb's. But the ride didn't change much.Thats an interesting setup...what made you go with that?

you said you went from stock to gr2s...which are stock.

I went with this setup because konis are expensive and agxs are not. Agx's suck with sprint springs, or most lowering springs in general, so i only used them on the back.

Its the intrax springs. They fuccing suck. I had them on my car when I bought it and they were horrible.

I just swapped out the front intrax w/ stock blown shocks (previous owner was a ricer) and put in progress springs with AGXs.

I totally recommend progress springs. They are alot firmer than my prokits on my other car and with the 2gb talon 17" rims I put on have less than an inch of gap. It handles great.

PROGRESS SPRINGS, I highly recommend with some quality shocks. My AGX's up front set on two feel fine albeit it a bit stiff but for daily driving I love them.

Unfortunately, a problem with my rear passenger side shock didnt not allow me to swap the backs out. Ill try and get some pics but it looks real good.

i just install the gr-2 shocks what spring do u guys recommend ? for my 90 eclipse fwd cant find spring that i can get for my ride help please

Hey onegee, thanks for the reply I have to check out PROGRESS SPRINGS. Hopefully thats all my problem is, the springs. Because to be honest I hate driving my car these days. Your right about intrax tho. All I hear is bad things about them and now with my experiences i know they are crap. KYB-gr2's are stock? i knew they were very similar i just thought the gr-2s where a set up from the stock OEM's. Learn something new everyday.

KYB makes the stock shocks, but they're not GR-2's. GR-2's are basically a stock replacement, though. They're gas charged and a little stiffer, but not really a performance shock.

Right, So what shocks are good for about 1inch drop or 1.5. So my problem is that the springs suck, and the shocks aren't doing anything because of the low drop?

yes they are slightly better, but are not intended for use with lowering springs in any way. Even kyb's sportier shock, the AGX says not to lower the car more then 1 inch.

If you plan on lowering a car, don't buy gr-2's. They will blow out in a short amount of time and you will be left with a bumpy ride.

so does that mean i just install the gr-2 for nothing and that i cant really lower my car at all ?

Just by chance, were the bumpstops still full length when you installed the new kyb's? If so, they are bottoming out and thats why you have such a bad ride. Without cutting the bumpstops, you will have a rough ride regardless of which spring/shock combo you go with. Try pilling them apart again and cutting the bumpstops at least if half and try again.

And to the poster that said you will blow kyb's in no time with a lowered car. Ive had my kyb's on the car for well over a year and they are still fine. Im only running eibach but with the rough roads around here and 6k rpm stutterbox launches, they held up exceptionally well.

a 1.75 drop on stock shocks or gr2s will blow out the shock and give you a bumpy ride. If it doesn't happen right away, it will happen alot faster then the time the shocks are supposed to last.

Mine are bottoming out with brand new bump stops, can you explain why doing this helps. Before i cut them.

Whe you lower the car with full length bumpstops, the suspension will lower down and ride on them instead of allowing the strut/shock to absorb the bumps. Just about every set of lowering springs I have seen came with instructions telling you to cut the bumpstops. I suggest that you call intrax themselves before you cut them but I am willing to bet they will tell you the same thing.

Ok i found something else.....The bumps stops are pretty much gone. I just went out and got these new bump stops that are the boot/damper design made by KYB. The bump stop is at the top of the boot. Does you guy have any ideas on how i would go about cutting these down to account for the drop on the car. Better yet ...anyone using these bump stops? The directions with the boot aren't very clear.

I have the same boots and all I did was just cut the top section off so the boot just slid down the shaft by itself. Its not exactly the correct way to do it but it has worked fine for over a year. I saw a writeup on it some time ago but dont remember where. You might want to search here on tuners and see if you can find it. I just looked on vfaq and it wasnt there.
