Orangeville,
first off i was looking at the following tubo for a non dsm project but you guys know the ins and outs of these turbos, so i'm here with some questions.

1-does anyone know what would this turbo would come gated at? EVO III Big 16G Turbos - Mitsubishi 3000GT / Dodge Stealth

2 is it possible to change this spring to be between a 5-7 psi spring?

3- if changing the spring to a 5-7 is possible where would i get said spring?

thankyou very much in advance to anyone who can help.

Wow. $989 for two of the same junk EvoIII turbos that sell on eBay for $279 each. I'm in the wrong business.

1- I think the actuator of these turbos is a bit stronger than 5-7psi. However, when dealing with chinese parts, you have no clue what you're getting.

2- No. You must use a manual boost controller to limit the airflow reaching the actuator in order to achieve boost above 5-7psi.

3- Refer to #2.

You can not lower boost below the actuation pressure of the WGA. If it actuates at 10ish psi like the EVOIIIb16g turbos for our cars, you can't go lower than 10psi boost.

The WGA is sealed. You might be able to cut it open and put a weaker or less preloaded spring in there, but that's a day of futzing and requires welding.

You can get brand new MHI (not knock-off) e3b16g turbos for about $550/ea.

If you're flowing about the same or less air as our cars at 7psi boost through each turbo, you may have creep problems with this setup.

thanks guys maybe ill just go with a t3 externally gated
What he meant was... the EVO III 16g is a GREAT turbo, but there are a lot of knockoffs that don't last as long and aren't worth the investment. This is a heated topic, but one thing is for sure, a true MHI EVO III 16g is a REALLY GOOD turbo. Just to give you an idea... MHI E3 16g's go for, on average, between $550 - $600 each. The knockoff version goes for around $280 (as previously posted).

If you research and feel that the knockoff's will work for you, then you should buy two of them off of ebay, before you shell out almost $1000. If you wanna stick with MHI turbo's, search the site sponsors and go with any of them.
