I can't find any other posts that sound like my issue. I hate to sound like one of those 'My car makes this funny sound' posts but.....and it actually doesn't make any sounds at all
Normally my engine idles very nicely right at 750 rpm. Now and then my engine just dies when I come to a stop. Usually it happens when I leave the house and the car is not fully warmed up. I will come up to a stop, engage the clutch and the idle just drops off the bottom and it dies. I took this as a kind of quirky, 160K miles kind of thing until tonight. I was on the freeway about 15 minutes out from home. I was going around a 45 mph bend, dropped from 4 to 3 and suddenly I was fighting the steering wheel. By the time I noticed all the gauge lights lit up and that it had died I let the clutch out and it started right back up. At the next few stops I made I watched the rpms as I slowed and engaged the clutch. I would drop straight down to 750-775 and stay there idling normally.
Is there anything this could typically be? It is basically impossible to reproduce on demand so I am hoping this is something someone has seen or tracked down and can shed some light on.
Thanks for any suggestions anyone has.
