i did it myself with SEM paint. this is what i recommend. i didnt use any primer and i did use clear. about 4-5 coats if i remember correctly. it is holding up great after about 7 months of use and abuse. you dont need a proffessional, anyone can do this. just dont rush it, clean everything really well, and spray in light coats. just take your time and you should be fine.

My question is how the hell did you do the whole dash (under the windsheild seems hard to get to) did ya have to remove it all?

I want to try some custom paint on my Talon, but can't think of a good color scheme since it's black on the outside, and well, i just have no clue what to do.. LOL

Any more shots of this? from the inside? Some better shots. That looks Soooo good, Mined turned out kind of bad. My friends rushed and put it all back when it wasnt totally dry so we got chips and runs and stuff, im a lil pissed so we have to re-do it

Does anyone know how to change the color of the carpeting, I have a dark green 2G and I want to do the interior in Green and black, right now its black and tan with tan floor carpeting and tan roof carpeting, the plastic panels are no problem, but can you paint the carpet? and how the hell do you get it out?

Any help would be great, thanks in advance
-Jacob

to get it out, the main thing you have to do is remove the seats and the center console. you also have to remove the running boards, kick panels, back seats and stuff like that. the seats come out with 4 bolts that are on the sliders/supports. you can use RIT dye, i dont recommend using paint, i did and it didnt last that long for me. or you can buy new one from ACC or ACS. i think the run like $150.

any idea where you cna buy that clear coat that you used? i am in search of a good one

Certainly insure you clean the interior before painting it. The best thing to use to make sure all silicone is off your interior is alcohol. This is best used for any plastic pieces you may have. I have seen many Honda owners make this mistake and just wash it over with soap and water, then a few weeks later it is coming off. No matter how much coating you put on it, it will not make it stick if you just "wipe it down".

I am surprised that those with the white dashes have not had any problems with reflection in the front windshield. I know from experience that has caused me to have some problems seeing when the sun reflects off of it. Just when I thought white was a problem, I found Yellow is even worse!

just my 2 cents....

Thats an awesome point. Does a white dash make it hard to see in the bright sun? because I am going to college in Arizona so its going to be very sunny there, and I had planned to paint my dash white and never thaught of the visability issue. Anyone else have input on this?

Oh, we were dumb enough to not clean it with alcohol (didn't even think of that) so should we totally re-sand the peices down? All the white parts look fine since the primer is white, but most of the red ones have chipse from touching/trying to put them back in when they were still wet. Should I just re-sand the chipped peices? or just use touch up paint? Should I re-primer them and everything, or just spray another coat of red?

yeah the white dash does cause alot of glare, i was shocked the first time i drove with it. i got used to it after a couple days and i really dont notice it anymore. the worst is when you are going from sun into a shady area, but it is all worth it to have a white dash...i wouldnt trade it. you can always throw a towel up there or something if it gets too sunny.

I have a question on what color i should paint the interior of my 94 talon.
The exterior color is a metallic blue (sort of a silverish blue), I've got blue neon underkit lights, blue indiglo gauges. Everything else other than that is the regular stock color of black on the interior. I don't want to overdue the blue aspect of everything. So over all i'm not really sure what color i should paint it. Also since i am sort of a newbie at this what is everything your really suposed to paint. Thanks for your guys help.
-Sorry i dont have a pic.-

sorry to double post, but i forgot to add that i added a silver bezel to cover the indiglo guages and my cd player is also silver, if someone could help give me some advice i would appreciate it. -Thanks-

maybe some silver painted vents would look nice....

you should get two 15" blue neons and put them under the dash on each side, that would really look good at night... i did the same, only in green... i have a green underbody kit, green neons under the dash, green led's in hte vents, and green gauges... im actually thinking about painting some of my dash silver..... you cant go wrong with silver either, it goes with everything incase you decide to change color schemes

I would be painting my interior panels as well, along with those in the hatch and trunk area, gray is so drab, I got myself a can of flat black pylox paint, do I still have to put a clear coat on it? I don;t want the thing shiny

im going to paint the around the upper center vents, the cruise/mirror controls, and around the door handles in black. i want to keep the texture by not sanding it down, but by wiping it good with alchol or another good cleaner. i bought gray primer and black paint. Should i use both to paint the pieces or what.

just need your opinions, guys..

i took out my dash and used some shitty vinyl dye on it.. that left most of it rough and disgusting..

i finally got off my lazy ass a tracked down a place with krylon fusion, so im wondering, how well do you think the krylon will bond to other vinyl dye?

i really dont want to go through the hassle of taking out the dash again, which by the way is the most stressful thing ive ever done in my life, so i figured maybe i can just spray it evenly in the car and then use steel wool to get rid of the paint on the windshield.

what do u think? thanks for any input.

if the other paint sticks to the dash well, i wouldnt worry with it chipping off, the paint you spray should bond with the other paint fine. But i think youll be better off sanding down everything so its all smooth. Also, about painting, i dont know how much work you want to put into it, but think about taking off your windshield... that would give you ALOT more room to work with and no worry about overspray on your windshield...
