Intercooler Questions

K. Just got my intercooler kit to replace my stock. Now I got some questions that may be stupid or very smart that I am asking.

1) Can I just put the intercooler on, do I need to worry about ECU, fuel cut, or something else that I don't know about?

2) Is there intercooler installation instruction on this site?

3) Do i need to get my car retune after installment?

Please offer any insight that I should be aware before installing it.

1. No, your fine there.

2.What kind of intercooler are you installing? Sidemount kits are usually bolt on or close to it, and for FMIC, theres tons of different types, be more specific.

I have a FMIC GREDDY-S TURBO INTERCOOLER + 8 Piping x2 straight Pipe, x 2 45 Degree Pipe, x 2 75 Degree Pipe, x 2 90 Degree Pipe. Thanks for the help..

Twack, that is only a kit..it doesn't come with an intercooler

This isnt the Greddy FMIC, but it can show you what it involves, I dont know if yours is bigger or smaller than this guys, but its really not that hard, just use this as a reference anyway, its helpful.

Thanks Rob..that helps...but DAM that's a big ass intercooler! Mine is not that big. Mine was design to fit the bumper just right so there should be no need to trim. But dam I won't mind having an intercooler that big if I knew more about what I am doing.

Just make sure you tighten the silcone couplers really well..... or your gonna have boost leak and be under the car more than you want to. I had this problem when i installed a new fmic..... i was like yeah thats tight enough and then all i heard was hissing from the pipe to the turbo.

Twack..yeap..that's the one I purchased. It's cheap and comes with everything. It's a good start for someone who doesn't know what he's doing. It's actually really nice and the intercooler is bigger than I thought. Great item for the price I paid for. Of course I havn't had the time to install it yet, so I'm not sure how good it is yet.

I'm putting it on now and it's a bi***. I took me almost 2 hours to take the front bumper off. There are two bolts underneath the headlights that are a bi*** to get too. The intercooler has three places where you can bolt it onto the car. The threads are so thin that it dropped on me and almost lost a finger. I'm going to have to find another way to bolt the intercooler onto the car. The intercooler and the pipes aren't direct fits. I'm going to trim part of my front bumper to get it to fit and I'm going to do a lot of cutting to the pipse to make it route right. It's a bi*** putting it on. It better be worth it or I'm gong to be pist. If I were you, I would not buy this one and get one with a bigger intercooler. It's a bi*** putting it on and I'm kind of dreading that the intercooler is not bigger. I will probably upgrade it in the future. Might as well get a big one not so you don't have to repace it in the future.
