Wasn't sure which Advanced Tech forum to put this in... so here you go 
I'm doing a 4g63 into a Starion swap, and of course this means I need a manifold that points the other way. Now, with the cost of the available ones out there being rather high, and the fact that very few for this application actually exist, I thought I'd try my hand at designing my own (I'm also a bit sketchy on the flow properties of a modifed stocker).
Now, the specs I am using are based on quite a bit of research as to whats best, and whats too extreme. The runner diameter is based on valve size, it will be pretty extreme for a stock valved head at near stock power, but with +1mm valves and considerably more CFM, considerable gains will be seen. The runner length, as far as I have seen is near as short as one should go (supposedly further gains will not be seen unless you're doing something just insane).
Now my MAIN concern is adverse effects to having the runners shaped the way I am hoping (and hoping that there aren't much in terms of effects). The reason for this is completely due to clearance issues. I know the image is a bit crude, but if you can imagine, the runners curve down towards the head just like any stocker, but also backwards a bit (to move the plenum forward). I wouldn't think this would be much different than the curves in a stock-type manifold's runners. Now, depending on clearnance I MIGHT be able to have the plenum sit STRAIGHT off the head, but I think the power steering box/lines may be in the way. Not 100% yet. Oh, keep in mind the bends will of course be smooth mandrel-style bends, and the runners will be belmouth at the plenum... I'd love to have them venturi at the head, but not sure how feasible that really is, but it can supposedly make quite a difference in performance.

But yeah, I'll give him some consideration. I really wish I had the metalworking skills to just build it myself.
