Hey guys my intake fell off yesterday while riding on a speed bump... I am guessing that it was very loose...
Thats not the problem though, i recovered the intake, but my filter got jammed between my car and the floor... it still fits on the cold air intake, but on one side it is smashed... do u think it will need replacing... or can i still use it?,

I went driving to miami today, and my temperature reading was off the chart... i dont understand though because i left my engine and it didnt seem any hotter than it usally would?!? somebody please help me... do you think this is because of the air filter or what?

Also i am very tight on money so what brand would u recommend and what would be the price...

I have pictures if needed...

well you figure that it suck air in right and that filter keeps dirt and bug and all that crap out. If there are any holes or rips in it then your going to suck all that crap in. Goto ebay and get a knock off K&N for like 25-30 bucks they work just as good and are also washable.

So u think thats the reason it is getting so hot??

No,,you're saying you are pegging your Temp needle and still continue to drive the car ?? OMG

Hope you have some money for repairs, get it checked out NOW, you probaly already caused alot of damage and can warp the head if it was all the way in red. Goodluck

.. How high does your neddle get if you go say 40 miles on the highway doing about 70 mph? This is what i usally do, and it gets "hot".

I dunno what your defintition of hot is but it shouldn't get in the red no matter how far your driving. Even if it gets close regulary I would get it checked out. Mine never leaves the center but it is a different car/engine.

Damn...

The engine usally is never hott to the touch...

What do you think is the problem?

And should i use coolant in teh radiator, or is water fine? people have told me coolant isnt really nessisary in miami...

If my temp ever gets real high do you think i should pull over?, cuz yesterday i was driving like 15 mins and i looked at my temp reading and it was ABOVE the H, i dont understand nothing blew up, nothing was making any nosies, as a matter a fact when i touched the motor it didnt seem THAT hot at all?, not to mention it was raining outside, i dont understand how it could be "overheating" :-\

If your needle is above the H and you drove it like that then you probably warped your head. Look in the coolant overflow bottle, is there any coolant in it? If not then take the cap off the thermostat housing where the radiator hose goes in and see if there is any coolant in there. If you've been driving like this for any period of time then you have most likely warped the head. If you have coolant in your car then it's possible that the water pump may have died. There is also the very very slim chance that the coolant temp sensor is out of whack. The gauges in your car are there for a reason, except the boost gauge, but your n/t so thats a different story.
