Ahh, someone else in the business.

Quotes can vary with the SAME information and SAME coverage by more than $300/6 months on AVERAGE.

For younger drivers, this can be as much as a $3,000/6 month variation in some cases.

ha plus he is wrong about a few things :) im an insurance agent, 2g turbo cars are just expensive as hell to insure and thats all there is to it. gst's are worse than gsx's. the most important things for determining rate are (in most states), in approxamate order of importance- age, driving history, location, then the car. of course, there are many more vairables than this, and they all interact with each other to affect things. most of the stuff in the above list is accurate, but your criminal record, number of drivers in the house or number of non auto policies have nothing to do with it. specific companies may offer internal discounts for having lots of policies but most dont, and when they do its almost always applied to the less volitile policy- the home policy. if you are under 25, male, not married and have any tickets in the past 3 years you are going to pay ~2500 annually for a 2g.. thats just the way it is. try doing it in miami or nyc though, youll be happy with 2500 :)

Um, you are wrong. Sorry. I have worked with two major carriers in the past, and currently am working for three. The auto home, auto life and auto pelp discounts apply to the auto policy (the auto home can be applied to the HO pol, but is usually written on the auto). If I have a roommate with a license and no other car, he can be written onto my policy, which increases the premium. Criminal record can affect your insurance premium, check into SR-22 filings sometime, not to mention the underwriting process that carries from there. I have been selling long enough, and have trained hard enough to know that I cannot quote accurately without the information listed above. :thumb:

I agree, companies set points and premiums independantly. I currently represent two high risk companies and one low risk. Talk about a difference in premium!

Dude, look you're the one who clicked on the god damned thread. If you're intent is just to be an ass then don't even bother. Go get laid already. :thumbdown

I am tired of people walking into my office claiming that their cousin's neice in a different state is paying half of what they are. Honest, if you can find a person with the same information as yourself, then you can accurately compare premium. Until then, its like benchracing your wallet.

that is company specific, and sr22 violations are driving incident related. you arent going to have one if you rob a bank. like i said, internal multipolicy discounts vary between companies, and if yours can be applied to the auto policy thats better than my company, but the discounts for such things are usually nothing great. every company is different, but 95% of the premium paid for an auto is going to depend on the constants. finding a company that has discounts that work best for a person is the trick, because we are all seeing the same losses.

I agree. :)

y am i hopeless?

Because, as stated previously, you cannot compare premiums between two different people, unless their information matches.

I pay 178/mo for PLPD (the lowest is michigan that's legal) i have 4 points, and that's for my 1.8
i'm 18

$2500 annually? I would love that. Gieco wanted near 2800 every 6 months from me on my 97 gst.... i laughed and called to cancel immediatly.

oh, ic, well im not hopeless in any other means. I seen others post what theres was, and put my info in, and your the only one that has to come out and act this way, np on my part.

I'm not sure I could divine why this is in General instead of Hangout, but at least it gives me the chance to moderate it.

We don't need the squabbling, desultory insinuations, nor instructions on Crayola usage.

Could we have just ONE conversation this summer without it degenerating into a pointless fusillade of "Yes it is!" "No it isn't!" bickering?

You kids play nice, or I'll stop this car RIGHT NOW.

Sorry to all for being so pissy. I don't like to hear people try to compare insurance premiums, anymore than I like to hear people try to benchrace. I'll just stay away from these threads. :thumb:

I was just wonderin how much you all pay for insurance per month. I have a 98 GST and I was quoted between 5 and 600 dollars a month for full coverage if I went under my own name. I am 20 and have no tickets or accidents and have never missed a payment when I was paying on my hond... err... my previous car. I am currently paying $320 a month under my parents name. :( -Matt

250 under my moms name on state farm, 2 accidents and 2 tickets
480 by myself...which is why its for sale

180$ a month.. no tickets or accidents.. liability plus theft. damn theives.
