i am installing new indiglo gauges and it says to connect the wires to the headlight power supply. but the problem is i dont know where it is. any help would be appreciated.

i was implying to find the wire through the head light switch and trace it back to a suitible splice location, if not he can just wire into the junction box, i figured he need the headlights so the gauges light up when when his headlights are turned on...

they arent new headlights they are new gauges. and the power wire that i need to conect has a small black(neg) wire and a small red(pos) wire so what do i have to do to acess the point that i have to connect these wires to. take the lever apart or is there another place i could connect the power to so that it only comes on with the parking lights.

edit: where is the junction box?

the junction box is your fuse box, the easiest way i can see doing this is using a test light, finding a constant power at the headlight switch, then finding a ground at the same connector, if the connection is too far, try tracing the wires up the harness or extending the wires from your gauges?

You're looking for the parking light wire.

Parking Lights+ green/white stripe + driver kick, harness to rear
Parking Lights- green/white stripe - headlight switch

The locations are as follows. Take the lower portion of the dash off or the steering column as necessary. Your instructions should say whether you’ll need a POSITIVE parking light wire or a NEGATIVE… it’ll more than likely need POSITIVE. So you need to look in the driver’s KICK PANEL, find and TEST the wire with a MULTIMETER.

If you don’t know what you’re looking for or don’t have/know how to use a multimeter, you probably shouldn’t be installing that stuff. You should talk to someone who knows interior electronics for cars

yea your right but i figured that a gauge swap seemed like a pretty simple project to start out with. and as far as not knowing what im doing, i am learning as i go. and thanks to every one who has offered to help.

Sorry to be a @$$, but I've had a lot of people screw things up, come to me, and then I've had to fix them because they didn't ask in the first place.

I didn't mean to offend you if I did, I apologize. Those are the correct wiring colors for the parkings lamps. This will switch your gauges on as soon as you turn your switch one click. If you need more interior help with wiring colors, feel free to ask. I have probably all the wiring information for our cars that you'll ever need.

no offence taken ill look for that wire tomorrow sometime and ill let you know how i made out or what other problems i run into on the way. thanks for all the help
