ok guys i know this is a common question and is asumed to be answerd already but just bare with me this is my problem.....i have an automeeter airfuel ratio gauge i have installed in my car i already installed the 12v wire and ground it turns on and lights up fine the only problem i have is with the purple wire that needs to connect to my o2 signal wire off my ecu but i caint seem to find this damm thing can some one just help me out and tell me were the wire is and what color it is so i can tap this damm thing already .... thanks guys ive searched and looked around and couldent really find a str8te foward answer:confused:

might sound rude but dont mean it that way ....im not asking for oppinions on the gauge so if anyone is going to try to answer my question by all means help me if not move on and dont waist my time thanks

DSM nOOb..thanks for the info if you can do you know were the o2 sensor is and just run me by how to tap it in if its a wire from the o2 what color and were is this o2 located thanks

I'm not giving an opinion on the gauge...I was stating a well known fact that has been mentioned 3262873446876234 times on this and other forums; those gauges are inaccurate and provide nothing other than a blinky light to impress people that don't know anything about these cars.

And I did mention something useful about installing it.

Good luck!

I agree with everything that calan said.

Blue wire off the o2s. But don't rig it too badly or as mentioned above it will load the signal. But it shouldn't detrimentally affect the emissions either way.

---- and I just noticed the "w/ Turbo" part. Imo wideband would have been more logical especially for tuning. But the o2s should be near the cat or off the o2 housing. But you have no pictures so I can't say for sure depending on what set-up you have.

But I hope this helped in any event.

cabbageman97 ...so the dark blue wire thats connected to my down pipe o2 sensor just tap it into there and it will work....

You should have 4 wires, 2 black (heater), a white (ground), and a blue one. tap that blue line and voila. Just be careful not to load that signal (you shouldn't) and be sure your ecu still receives the signal. And to correct a post from above, you want low resistance, not high. Electrically, high resistance is translated to a load, takes more voltage to do the same thing.

so the o2 sensor thats connected to my down pipe would that be ok thats were those four wires will be off the o2 right....

That's inaccurate; impedance and resistance are two different things. When feeding a signal into a circuit, the circuit should ideally have high input impedance. According to Ohm's law, current is inversely proportional to resistance, which is a component of impedance. The higher the input impedance, the less current the circuit will draw from whatever is generating the signal. If whatever is generating the signal's output impedance is too low, the signal will degrade due to loading effects.

AH! YOU'RE RIGHT! I read it wrong I apologize. Disregard my statement.

^^^ Thank you.

To expand a bit more on it...

Input impedance usually describes the amount of resistance that a circuit presents to an alternating flow of current. Resistance and impedance are both measured in ohms, but while resistance relates to a DC signal, impedance is resistance measured at a specific frequency or referenced to a range of frequencies.

And wiring up the blinky AFR meter is still a waste of wire (at least in it's original form...you can make them useful for other things with a bit of tinkering though). :)

The false information was unintended. Misread the post. but an expansion is never a bad thing.

No harm...no foul ;)

And waste of wire? maybe. but at least its not your wire LOL

True that. I just hate to see new guys jump on these things and worse case, blow a motor up trying to tune off of them before they really know how everything works. :nono:

damm right!!! no need to judge.... if you have an answer to my question by all means post if you have no surrporting info dont post at all your just a waist of thougt.. I LOVE MY BLINKY AFR GAUGE

True, but thats what I guess you would call learning the hard way? in a sense? But then once they do we'll be here to help them do it the right way :hellyeah: haha

I liked the one I had in my N/T.. Maybe because I have bad ADHD. But its true, if thats what you want then I'll help. But like calan mentioned, don't try to tune off of it.

Here you go man. I've used this thing. But I'm not so sure if the ecu pins are the same because of the turbo/ no turbo ecu. It was very easy and fun.
I rushed it when I first got a turbo car and it wasn't worth it. But the air fuel was free. Chicks like it cause they don't know what it is. They just think the car is technology advance. LOL... Good luck and pm me if you get it done or if it works!
Jumptronix Installation Instructions

Install on the gauge reguardless, it's the same wiring!

Also try this. It's for a 98 ecu but I think 99 is the same also, not so sure!

haha LOL im a new guy now becuse i ask how to install a afr gauge i know my car just needed help with wire hook up for the afr thanks for the concern ...

im not going to tune off of it that was never my intention thanks for the help i appreciate it cabbageman97

My bad. I assumed anyone that wasn't new to DSM's would

1. Be asking how to uninstall the goofy AFR gauge that the previous owner had installed to impress his girlfriend, and

2. Would be able to search for, find, and read a simple wiring diagram instead of asking how to do it, and

3. Wouldn't take it so personal when someone simply informed them that those meters aren't accurate and provide no useful purpose.

Again... totally my bad.

Welcome, any other questions you have if you want to skip the b.s from others opinions feel free to p.m. me.

Those of us with our b.s. opinions would probably prefer that as well.

Shoulda got a wideband they are more expensive....but they actually do something and they look so much coola like the aem one cough...cough....!!! Calan you make me feel very uneducated!!!LOL
