:dsm: How hard is it to install a new thermostat on a 97 GST? The temp gauge on my car always is 1/2 now it runs at 3/4 unless i run the heater all the way. Im pretty sure its the thermostat. Can anyone help me and possibly let me know how to install a new one.

Its really easy: Buy an OEM thermostat, drain the coolant, take out the bolts on the thermostat housing, take old thermostat out, place new one in(wiggle valve up), bolt the thermostat housing back up, fill with coolant, start the engine, inspect for leaks, test drive, recheck/fill the coolant system, burp system if needed.

I just did mine again 2 weekends ago.

EDIT: You may want to pick up a radiator cap. Its cheap and is another possible solution to your problem. I would do the cap and thermostat first, and then see if those fix your problem.

Don't forget your gasket!!!!!!! :tease: diablos991 j/k
Sorry, I know, it's understood, but I had to add it, just to be thorough.
