Hi guys when installing a new crankshaft i was wondering if you need to install new rods or can you still use your old rods with the new crankshaft. i just want to get all the parts before i tear it down thanks

As long as nothing is wrong with the old rods, you can use them. They will need new bearings though.

Why are you replacing the crankshaft? If it's because of a spun bearing, you will need to replace a lot more parts, including the oil pump, any rods that spun bearings, the oil cooler, and possibly the head.

cool thanks was not sure if the rods would still have the tolerances but the rods are still good thanks

yes and it was a brand new motor i should broke it in right

if the rods sufferad any bearing damage, no matter how slight, take them to a machine shop and have the big ends check for round.

just before you install the new crank, CLEAN IT!! the oil galleys are most important!!

use a can of brake cleaner, compressed air and a "Gun brush"
