Installed superbright red LED's in my cluster and switches

For the LEDs for the back of the cluster I know they are #74 , but is there diffrent sizes of bases? Or will any do? If you could post a direct link to the bulb you bought for your cluster that would be great.

Also I plan to sand off the orange b.s. What grit did you use?

All the cluster bulbs are going to be the 74s like you said and they just plug in and are a direct swap for the stock bulbs. The rest of the switches on superbrightleds.com are the neo wedge 3mm and they will just twist into the switches after you take the stock bulbs out.

NeoWedge series LED Lamp Specifications

That's the link for the neo wedge. Make sure you get 3mm.

1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse LEDs

That's the link for the cluster bulbs. Click on "instrument general" and then it's the 74-xHP3 bulbs that every one is using.

And as for sanding I believe people are using 300 grit then 600. But don't hold me to that one.
haha

Hope this helped out a little!!!

Hey guys, sorry I've been slacking on here. Uncle passed away last week and before that it was a 2 week up and down battle. Combine that with being a full time student and you guys get the picture.

Thanks for the props on the work thus far. I have recieved and installed the cool white. There is not a bit of blue that I can see when they shine through. I'm acutally going to have to sand the faces some more due to the light they emit.
The light coming through I would compare to 6-7000k hid headlight. Not quite as much "color" as my 8000k kit, more of a crisp light you could say. It doesn't come through as intense.
I want to get some pictues up so you guys can see what I mean. Because I am considering not sanding the gauge faces anymore and finding some other use for the cool white and putting the warm white back in since they looked right w/out additional sanding being required.
As for the sandpaper, I just looked and I'm pretty sure it's already moved to my new place and packed up. I just bought a $5 variety pack at walmart. Used the finest grit for the entire process. I just used the flashlight on my Incredible to shine through and apparently I should have had it on a lower setting to really ensure I sanded uniformly. With the cool whites installed I am able to see some yellow. So the color and intensity of the cool white is a lot more mild and require more work.
I have pictures I just need to upload from my phone. But right now I have a 3 page paper to bust out in just over an hour :D :banghead::banghead:

Very sorry to hear about your uncle man, I hope all is ok.

And that's a shame about the cool blue lights, I was hoping they would look all awesome blue - ish. Still can't wait to see a picture though!!!

Thanks bud, I appreciate that.

Yea, the cool white really do not come through at all. In order to use them I am going to have to do some mega sanding. I'm thinking about calling superbrightleds.com and seeing what's up. They all work, maybe I'll see if I can ship them back and get the blue ones or for other lights for the interior and get the warm white lights installed again.
If they wont let me do an exchange then I will just use the cool white for the hvac and wherever else I can find a use for them LOL. I really do not want to pull my needles of and have to calibrate them again. My fuel gauge still has not responded?? Not really worries b/c I know how far I can go per tank. (Usually 350 miles before light comes on, so ~26 mpg living in the middle of Dallas. I could easilly average around 30 with just a little more conservative driving. If I were to be super conservative, I estimate 35mpg average at the absolute max. Not bad with gas hitting almost $4 a gallon :banghead: )
But yea, the cool whites look like ass and are coming out. I really do not want to risk messing up my tach, speedo, or temp gauge getting the needles back on. I would rather try to get the blue lights. Regardless, the warm whites are going back in. I know how to solder, so if I have to find a way to make the cool white work somewhere else.
I have a build journal I will be updating soon w/ more pics and some parts I had come in soon to be installed.

Little side not. I paid good money for my door windows to be tinted and the F*n drivers side is peeling. WTF??? I couldn't get a receipt b/c I went 20%. I will be going in tomorrow if I get a chance to see wtf they can do to resolve this. I didn't roll my window down for 2 days. I had it done exactly a week ago.

:dsm:

dropped99gs, how do the red areas (needles, redline portion of tach) look with the cool whites compared to the warm whites? The pics and info you've been posting is definitely appreciated. :thumb:

I am about to make the purchase on superbrightleds.com before that wanna ask: can these light listed in superbrightleds.com be used? someone ask this before and noone answer it

I just want to get the most powerfull leds possible since im not doing the strip led mod from az entirely...
I bought leds before seeing this post, and now i want to buy them again as the one your are using seems to have more light...

Would like to have your opinion regarding the hot spot i have in the speedo... can they be solved with the bulbs u are buying?
Here are some pics

As for the guys that are afraid of sanding, i encourage u to do it, its very simple actually... I know nothing and i got them done pretty nice, u just have to take your time, i followed azdaves mod, used 220... 400 and finally 600 sand paper to get black faces smooth, before taking the needles, take a picture where it rest down there and after u finnished sanding be absoluty SURE u get them EXACTLY INTO THE SAME SPOT, and then they will work as they were before, no need to do anything else!! just that.

+1 on the making sure the needles are in the right positions when reinstalled. My car is now 10MPH off as well as a few RPMs. I'm just too lazy to take the cluster out AGAIN (for probably the 7th time).

I was afraid of that since always something tends to go wrong... but it well pretty well this far if u dont have the resting point pictures of the needles, u re gonna havee to use a obdII scanner for tach, warming engine up for cooling system... and the other , u dont remember more or less their idle position in your mind do u? haha no clue on those ones...

Hey guys just to let you know the install is easy and quick. Only problem I faced was trying to make the red line thicker. Due to this I messed up my cluster LOL. Had to get a new one, for this one I just left the redline how it is and im happy

dont know if its been said or not but you can change the HVAC bulb with out removing the whole HVAC assy. just have to remove center vent and can get to it and can also pull the AC switch out as well, its still a PITA

Anyone know the size of the bulb that lights up the gear selections on an automatic? It's definitely not a #74, I took it out and its way bigger. There's no markings on it tho

It's a bulb #194. Same as the footwells. Glovebox and license plate bulbs.

Alright thanks, I'll have to pull a bulb from one of those (already have led's) and see what it looks like

That was the right one, it came out awesome

So, I want to change out the lights in my interior. What bulb does the ring around the cigarette lighter/ignition key take? Also the shifter?
