Installed NEW FMIC comments please

Well I just have the two bottom right now, planning to install the middle to the rad support soon

once you take off the SMIC, all you need is a pipe extention and a jpipe to connect it to the FMIC, I plan on getting the Jpipe from the 16g turbo bent at a muffler shop so it points towards the driver side.

:sosad:

I assume you got this purely for looks so I guess we will have to see how it works out once the piping is done and the bumper is back on.

Well it wasn't for looks, if it was for looks I would have gone bigger, i don't mind if it looks crappy, as long as it cools down the air I'll be happy.

Although once it was installed it did end up looking too small, so I'm just going to install it and see what it can handle, I might just send up going bigger later...

Any ideas on intercooler temp metters?

Please post more pictures of plumbing as you progress.

I have a 2ga, replacing with a 2gb bumper and do not know which size in inches
of intercooler to use. The car is 100 percent stock engine except for K&N intake
and larger muffler and exhaust tip (stock exhaust to the back).

Yes, I am so shallow that I am doing it for looks and do not want to cause a
negative effect by actually losing power. We hope we don't.
I have a suspicion that the stock setup is very well designed.

But back to my original request - I'd like to see how to get the turbo
side plumbed to the IC, pretty clear on the intake side.
I too was looking to plumb into the stock SMIC connections.
I would like to keep the strong fiberglass bumper.

Looks like we lose foglights though. So - what length , height , width is a good
replacement for stock ?

No need to keep the fiberglass bumper, not going to protect anything anyway.

To the OP, as stated I hope it's a 2ga.

2gb when opened up is really big, might be OK if you don't open it up though

I think I have the same one and it pretty much fills up my 2ga bumper except for a little area on each side AND I got to keep my fog lights.

pics with a bumper or it didn't happen

<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
as you can see my car didn't happen hahaha

requesting comments...hmmm...ok
that sure isn't oem!!
better keep your expectations low, or go with something a little bigger

That is a huge upgrade from stock SMIC.. i see no reason why he should go with a massive fmic!
people have pushed the smic to huge numbers, this things should handle a good amount!
Its not all about SIZE, its about being efficient!
I personal will be getting a smaller sized fmic, like the op's, for a few reasons: 1 being i only plan to go about 350-400hp; 2 it will be on e85!!
You have pressure drop and lost spool with HUGE front mounts when they aren't necessary!\

And if its heat soaking, which i shouldn't do much of, you could always hook up some sprayers to it!
n2o, water/meth, co2.. i am mocking up a DIY spray kit for my SMIC.. getting a extra windshield wiper fluild setup and mocking the line to spray a water/meth mixture on the SMIC, it will have a separate switch so i can spray it when running and not have my wiper blades moving!

That being said.. i like it a lot, but its does seem to be a little off center!
Post a pic with the bumper on!

Do you have a pic with the front bumper installed?

How are you fabing up the new IC pipes?

UPDATE: So my original plans was to just connect the smic piping to a FMIC, after some thought. I just ended up hacking up my DEJON TOOL Upper piping to go Short route with the piping.

I just had enough time and money to do one side, Im still working on a way to reuse my SMIC J-Pipe and convert it to a FMIC J-PIPE

what ended up happening was I added 1/4 inch of piping to the TB part of the piping, rotated the BOV and extended the part of the pipe that would normally be going to the SMIC to go under the overflow can, using a U pipe I used a coupler to connect it to the FMIC from the passangers side

hm...the U pipe out of the intercooler doesn't seem right. I think you need to shorten or use more bent UICP so the U pipe doesn't lean forward like it is now

I'm going to get a 45 degree reducer coupler 2.0-2.5 to connect the upper pipe to the 2.5' U pipe hoping that will help with the slight off angle to the intercooler
