I just got my s16g in this weekend after A LOT of hard work...it was quite a nightmare of an install and ill be writing a journal about it soon, long story short I made it work...along with my punishment racing FMIC that fit not so great...and eliminated my fog lights even though I was told several times that it wouldn't...but enough about that.

I ran really rich at first 17-18 A/F at idle and cruise...I got home and turned up the Global Fuel settings and it improved it A LOT my idle is right about 14 and started running a lot better why did this improve it so much?

There seems to be a LOT of turbo lag with the 16g is this normal? Can I improve it?

Here's a few pictures for your enjoyment.

PS.
IM running stock Fuel stuff for now I have 880 injectors and 255 pump ill be installing this weekend

First things first:
14.8 and over LEAN
14.7 STOICH
14.6 and under RICH

You are running lean at idle, probably due to a vacuum leak.

A lot of people who install turbos their first time always neglect to do a boost leak test. Since you also installed a FMIC, you basically changed almost anything that can cause a boost leak if improperly installed. If you only switched to a larger turbo and intercooler and are still on stock injectors you should never need to mess with your global fuel.

A lean condition at idle is usually a vacuum leak pulling in unmetered air.
A turbo that small with a "ton of lag" can be caused by a boost leak (but can also be other things, such as a wga not fully closing or an exhaust leak.)

So, do a boost leak test and you'll find your issue.

you do know that 17-18 a/f ratio is very lean? rich would be like 10.0, you should be at around 14.7-8 at idle and cruising and depending on the fuel which i assume your on 93 octane you should be at 11.5-11.8 at full throttle, it sounds like your lag is due to running lean it needs to be fixed asap before you mess something up

No I didn't remove the support I didn't see an issue with it being on I mostly had trouble at the bottom. Not sure what you mean by lines hooked up right as far as I know yes... it seems to run pretty smoothly :idontknow:

Ok well I wasn't for sure if it was lean or rich...if you read on I fixed it with the global fuel it now idles at 13.7-14.3 or so.
My question was why did if fix it so much with just a small adjustment

Boost leak. Time for a boost leak test.

You shouldn't have had to adjust the slider at all. The MAF should have compensated for any change in the airflow.

It's running lean because it isn't reading all the air entering. It will spool slow because of air leaking out the leak under boost. And it will run rich under boost, too.

make sure your fuel is dialed in as i said above and do a boost leak test as burrowz said, and check all your vac lines, and by lag how much boost are you running and what rpm do you hit that boost in what gear

You boost controller lines?

No controller yet as I am using stock fuel at the moment.

2 gear boost hits in the the mid 3s seems about the same in 3rd

Boost is set at the regulator I believe 10psi is about the norm Iv see 11 as well
