installed dsmlink and got these codes

DSMlink is a real time rom editor with a great user interface plain and simple. It makes direct code changes without any side effects, unlike a piggyback approach that can change what load map you are in. That should sum it up nicely :D

My thread has been hijacked!!!!!!!!!hehe jk.. well at least I know dsmlink is not a piggy back... Im going to try and learn about ve settings so I wont have to get the maf-t... Problem though I cant recirulate a Tial, has to be open and I want to run 30 plus psi... In other words I hope my Greddy type s wont leak...

You can get an HKS SSQV with the recirculate kit. That'll hold 30+psi easily. It's a tad expensive though. I wouldn't get it unless your Greddy does leak.

Another option would be the Type R. It's meant to hold 30+psi, and wouldn't require you to get a new BOV flange.

Well gonna get a new fmic kit so I might go with hks flange then if it can hold 30 plus psi... I havent seen them with the recirulation kit... Ill look into that...

So is your Map actually connected to your manifold and sees manifold vacuum or are you just letting it dangle in the engine bay??

Technically, DSMLink is just an unlock, not a piggyback. Not a standalone either.

I mean, look at it logically. It's not piggybacking on the stock ECU like a SAFC, MAF-T or VPC.. it IS the stock ECU. Hell, following in the same mindset as most of the f***ed-up logic in this thread, you could call an AEM EMS a 'piggyback' for using the stock wiring harness!

Short version. DSMLink is good for the midrange people, and is all that most will ever need. A full standalone ECU replacement is better for those with the money and time to get it working, or those looking to put out hefty numbers.

Thats probably why when you put it in gear the car will fall on its face. The map is seeing no change in vacuum so it thinks your at wot while your tps is seeing no change in throttle. The ecu needs to see correct signals from the map sensor to operate the idle air control to properly control your idle once its in gear. You need to find someway for the map to see manifold vacuum or the car will not run right.

I thought the MAP (or MDP is what I've commonly heard it called) was only used to check EGR operation in the turbo DSMs.

I actually have the HKS SSQV recirc "metal adapter" let me know if you want it 10$ shipped.

You're right, it has nothing to do with fuel maps, throttle position, or anything that would lead to shitty daily driving. It is a MDP sensor like you said, not a MAP. The "d" stands for differential and the sensor simply registers a change in manifold pressure when the EGR opens. If it doesn't read the change, the ECU thinks the EGR is malfunctioning. The sensor can't even read pressures above atmospheric.

MDP sensor is more like a back up sensor incase your MAF ever went on you. It isn't completely useless LOL. Throttle Body Injector fuel injection had these kind of sensors as there main sensor. They ran only on the MAP (MDP) or speed density sensor, they just calculate manifold pressure and RPM and by using a forumla figure out the air fuel ratio in g/sec. Any port fuel injected car will use a MAF sensor and MAP (MDP) as a back up, or not use a MAP at all. All depends on the car.

If it's connected to your brake booster, you should be Okay. If you don't have a vacuum source plugged into it, it can't do its job. What does the MDP do? Well, if your MAF ever failed on you, your car wouldn't run properly or run at all, this sensor gives you a little help with the air fuel ratio and probably can get you home. There are a few modes in the ECU. Normal mode, substitution mode, limp mode, and walk home mode. If the MAF failed on you while you didn't have the MDP, it will be walk home mode for you LOL.

You're explaining speed density (but you left out IAT) which our ECUs are not capable of. There is a huge difference between the MAP and MDP. Absolute and differential. Think about it. One reads real manifold pressure, the other reads a change in pressure. That’s the ONLY purpose of the MDP in our 2Gs. The whole "back up sensor" bull shit is just a myth. E-mail Thomas at ECM Tuning and he'll set you straight.

Thread cleaned up. The only replies that should be posted should be directed to the original thread-starter about the problems he's having. Everything else is off-topic and will be deleted. If people insist on continuing this unnecessary argument here in this thread, you'll be suspended. Start a new thread. Thanks.

I apoligize to the original thread starter. Some people feel that they know everything and I think it's better off just left alone. Anyway The one thig they said I agree with to find out why your getting those codes you would be better off going to the dsmlink forums because there are guys there who can help you a lot better than people on here.

So some ass gives me negative rep points because they consider dsmlink to be a hybrid. I never said it wasn't a hybrid, I said it wasn't a piggyback. This rep points system needs to go away, it's BS. If somebody disagrees with what I said then lets discuss it instead of anonymously giving me negative rep points for something as stupid as this.

When you put a '95 ECU into a car with a non-95 CAS, the ECU ends up swapping the firing order of the injectors. In most cases, this produces very little noticeable difference in drive quality. or the option to invert the CAS signal anyway just in case. You can selectively invert this signal with the DSMLink software. You will still need to swap your spark wires, though. dsmlink cant control spark firing order in the EPROM at crank time. So even with CAS inversion, you still have to swap plug wire 1 with 2 and 3 with 4.

so if this is the problem when you put the eprom in it might fix it.

straight from dsmlink.com

I hear you I got 3 negative feedback comments or whatever because everyone on here is on dsmlink's dick and I said that's it's not a standalone and like you said a mix of a piggyback and a standalone and everyone has a hissy fit. This is stupid we all know what it does lets just leave it at that.

It happens... I actually had someone leave negative feedback on a post, saying it was "irrelevant"... I was giving a buddy of mine a hard time... Someone I hang out with every weekend or so, and he gave me negative feedback saying my conversation was irrelevant ROFL

ROFL i get negative rep points all the time because im an ass hole. it makes my day to know that i pissed someone off that bad :rocks:

HAHA, more fuel to your fire... tell me where DSMlink is found in the parts catalog of this page :thumb: You guys have a good time with this one :D

The Haltech E6S is listed under "piggy-back" too, while the other Haltech's are listed under "ECU Upgrades."

The Venom 400 Control Module is listed under "ECU Upgrades" too.

What's your point?
