Well I had upgraded everything on my car and have yet to get a AFPR. So I got the $250 Fuel injector clinic deal on Aeromotive regulator. After I installed the regulator, which is really easy right... My car now starts up and then dies after about 20 seconds of idling.
No leaks, nothing. My Fuel Pressure gauge reads 19psi to 20psi with the vac line hooked up. So what do you think the deal is? I have tried adjusting my AFPR screw in and out. Messed with my biss screw. I rev the car up and it stay on but if I dont give it gas it will die. Its like a steady sputter die.

I have 56k miles on 97 Eclipse GST. I just put a 6bolt in with 800miles on it after it crankwalked. I did not change my fuel filter though so I am guessing thats my problem.

Anyone know what might be happening here. If I put the stock regulator on I am sure my car would work again. It was working before with the stock regulator on just before I installed the aermotive. WTF!!!!

Dsm can be ###.

when you say 19-20 psi

do you mean your fuel pressure?

base fuel pressure should be higher than that at idle on a stock turbo car.

check on the proper pressure since i can't pull the right number outta my head right now
you need 35psi at least

Yea I know on my 1st gen base fuel psi is at 36. I think the 2nd gens are a lil higher. Raise it up :thumb:

No.

All I did here was switch from stock fuel pressure regulator to after market aeromotive and now my car dies after few second sof idling? What could be the problem? The hardware was brand new... I guess my afpr is defective item. I don't know why else my car would be doing this.. anyone else have a clue? could the fuel filter be the problem.

probably not since it ran fine til you installed the aftermarket unit

either its not installed correctly, or defective.

Yes, you either installed it wrong or it is defective since it will not turn the pressure up.

Seems like the problem is pretty obvious. Aeromotive is of good quality...make sure it's hooked up right, and get that fuel pressure set correctly...then it will work.

well i ran 13.89 @95 mph with fuel pressure at idle 32.... yes i did hit cut off in the high rpm but i couldnt tune cause i didnt have a palm and logger... but yeah like everyone else said fp is too low at 20

make sure its hooked up right and make sure the vacuum line is plugged when adjusting and always connected. if it is not connected at all times when car is on, the car will die.

like everyone has said your fuel pressure is too low and also make sure you are checking it with an accurate gauge with the vacuum line to the afpr DISCONNECTED!

wow, that's not the case. First of all, you have a 6 bolt motor now, is all ecu/harness everything else still obd2? ok - i see you have dsmlink and an obd2 ecu. Not sure if your bfp should be 38psi of 43psi (1g vs 2g) Second, when you check your base fuel pressure you must pull the vacuum source OFF the afpr - and no it will not die. read all about it at www.vfaq.com. So if your bfp is set correctly and your still havig problems, change fuel filter. If you're still having problems I blame dsmlink - injector compensation. The only time my car ever acted like yours was when I first put my 680 injectors in. I thought they were junk at first (FIC's) Adjusted maft and went from there.

you probably just slapped the afpr on there and didn't set it...if you don't set it, the hole will be wider than stock making a lower idle fuel pressure...set the hole smaller (increase fp) and you should be set :thumb:
