i just got my 550cc injectors installed. now the car will not rev past 5k. any ideas? are there support mods i need to do? the car is a 90 talon tsi awd automatic. its bored 40over with eagle rods wiseco pistons and a remanufactured head. could it be the coil pack?

Also, I wasn't even aware you could do a .040 over bore on these, the biggest Wiseco's I've seen are .030

Are you sure on that spec? I'm curious just for my own referance.

right now im runnin a tdo5 at 14psi for breakin. right after breakin im going much bigger but dont know what yet i am going for a consistent 12 sec car

I think there may be a problem other then the 550's. I once did that mistake with a 255lph without safc and fpr, my car didn't have that kind of problem. I just didn't drive it hard until I got my safc in a month later. My car ran super rich and I once hit fuel cut 3rd gear at 5500 rpm with 18lb of boost. But just be careful. I stop driving hard after the fuel cut, but I did not have your problem though.

You might be ok if you just don't drive it hard, I did.

If you were on stock injectors and you had to make adjustments on the safc to avoid fuel cut and make the car run right, you most likely had some serious boost leaks and you're covering them up with a safc instead of fixing them. Lack of afpr for the 255 also was part of your problem in which you again try to cover up with safc, which is impossible to do.

NO, I mean fuel cut happen before the safc. But after the safc and Aeromotive fpr install, my car was good to go.

I am just telling him that it might be ok for him to have 550's without those supporting mods for now, but he will need them soon. The 550's was ok for me becuase my stock injector's was bad also, but I just didn't drive it hard until I've got those supports.

And I was trying to tell you hitting fuel cut has nothing to do with fuel pump, size of injector or basically your capacity to deliver fuel. Fuel cut is triggered solely by air count, the reason your safc was able to DELAY fuel cut is because a piggy back system works by reporting less than the actual air count to the ECU. Have you ever done a boost leak test on your car?

That would be bad advise, absolutely no larger injectors without fuel management.

why keep 550's and limp around? thats the advice i see being given, and that doesnt make since. just "take it easy until..." doesnt really work, you should consider doing what everyone else has ssaid and getting the supporting mods, limping around doesnt work

Thanks guys, I was wondering what the biggest safe overbore was for these motors. Some motors have very little room for overbore.

Why are you asking about the largest bore that you can do on one of these blocks. They generally do not wear the cylinders, and usually only a .020 bore is requires to clean the block up. Boring is not for adding power, it does add small displacement, but is mainly used to straighten and true the cylinder so that is to a certain spec.

This I know, I was just curious as to the overbore limits. Twenty thousandths is plenty to clean up any motor, barring catastrophic failure that leaves a scar in the cylinder deeper than .010, however max overbore specs clue in on several other important things; cylinder wall thickness, cylinder spacing, number of times a motor can be overbored before it requires sleeving or replacement. :)

He does need an SAFC but he will also need a logger to tune that SAFC
Thank you Capt. Obvious...:p Then again, common sense doesn't seem to be too common on this thread. :)
