like i said....me and my sponsors have been figuring it out for about 3 months how to do it nad this is the best way.......the get the most out of it

i mean the subs are rated at 370 watts and i have heard them...they sound like a set of 8s.....if your thingie works i might do that but if i cant fit an MA 8 then im not gonna....plus i dont want kicker panels because people do just that..kick em

hmmmm, 8's in the eclipse door...im interested...why not sub out the 8's and use Dynaudio..are they 7's ?? I thought they were...at any rate...once the 8's are in the door is the whole purpose to put a 3 way set up towards the front? so after the 8's you need room for 6 1/2's/ 5 1/4's <tweet>.....if it works out awesome, but i am questioning the cost......do you think it is effective? a 3 way set up is not cheap.....

well if your putting an 8 in a door......your not gonna have room for too much else.....we tok off the panel again yesterday and there is about 2 inches of depth...so if you put a sub with even a 3 inch mounting depth then why now put in the 6x9?...an 8 wiht a magnet that small is gonna sound like crap anyways......

....ok, so I just went out to my car if the freezing a$$ cold 14* weather to measure depth for ya. From the speaker mount of the fiberglass doorpanel to the inside door skin there is 3" of depth, then add whatever the depth is from the doorskin to the window track and that'll be your total depth. Is that enough depth?.....I thought so........... It's too bad you're taking the word of your 'sponsor' for gold and dismissing all other ideas and options. I'm not knocking your sponsors, but how many Eclipses have they done? How much time did they spend researching the acoustics of the vehicle to find the best speaker placement? Are any of them MECP masters? Do they host or participate in IASCA events? Just a few thoughts......not trying to start anything here.

If a so-called "custom" stereo shop is telling you they can't put 8's in your doors and some 6x9's would sound better anyways, I think I would shop elswhere. And not to sound like an a$$, but IMO that 6x9 job they did in the back there looks really cheap. I could see if you did it by yourself....but not a custom stereo shop. Is that dry-wall screws they used to screw it in?....I hope that's not the finished product.

they were invited to nationals ...i dont remeber what division or whateever...but we were the only shop in south carolina to recieve an invite so i trust them yes...

here are the 6x9 subs sound decent but the amp isn't in yet nad one of the speakers had to be returned beause of damage in shipping

...one other thing that would be interesting to try is an 8" where you have your 6X9's. Typically 8" subs have a surface area of approx 50.25 sq in, where as 6X9's are somewhere on the order of 42.5 sq in. Granted, cone surface area isn't the only factor in determing bass response and the amount of "bump in the trunk", gaining a total of 16 sq in in conal surface area may not be a bad idea. Do you know the excursion on your 6X9's?

i was gonna do the 8...but tehre would be too much stress on the panels and of the 8s i wanted you would have to have a 5 inch mounting depth. Far greater than the 3 i had trouble getting becasue i actually wanted to stil use my back seat....I promise ive tried almost everything i can think of....while still remaining functional....try the MA audio site as far as the stuff you need to know

I just had to bring back this oldie to say it's FINALLY done!!! The 8's are in the doors and it sounds SPECTACULAR! I ended up with .39 cubic feet of airspace which is just right for these subs. I also relocated my radio to the center vent area to make more room for switches and guages down below. It's all painted silver to match the exterior. So here's the pics....

...so what do you guys think? I'm also thinking about painting the under dash panels and the side panels of the center console silver to match. Good idea? Bad idea? Opinions?

I like the 8's in the door, it's done very cleanly and still keeps that "stock-ish" appearence. Goodjob.

You must have leetle teensy feets, like a Lotus driver. I'd put a hoof right through one of those speakers the first time I tried to wallow out of the car. ow.

Otherwise, pretty damned nice job.

Damn nice job Justin ,BUt where the hell are my door panels. Also when did you move the cva.

P.S. The 6 bolt 2g auto swap will be running by the end of October..

That is awesome,

:thumb: :thumb: for the custom job. I dunno about that kick panel right there next to the clutch pedal.. I would cry, my foot rest gone like that.. I'd be afraid of water and such down there when it rains with wet shoes too.. I love the door panels though.

by the way, check your PM's.
