I second this motion. Do it right the first time.

Hi guys......

this wasn't a question about a 6 bolt swap b/c i didnt want to know about a 6 bolt swap.

i already understand what entails a 6bolt swap into a 1995. i would have asked that if i didnt.

anyway....not that someone else has kindly answered the question i did ask, i can close this thread.

i think u got it all wrong, i wasnt trying to be a asshole. im saying if ur going to do something right, do it right the first time.

but oh well, not my car. i wouldnt lose sleep if it would blew up tomarrow.

not to be a jerk but im the one who started this thread. i was looking for the answers. no i don't wanna do the 6 bolt swap. i don't have the time, and just don't wanna do that. i need good quality advice, not "im an idiot for not doin the 6 bolt".

You heard incorrect, that's the 6 bolt and not the 7 bolt. Since you don't want the hassle of a 6 bolt swap and want to replace your blown engine, I would suggest that you get a 2G 7 bolt.

Here is a link to a thread that was started by someone else. It has the differences between a 2G 7 bolt and a 1G 7 bolt.

Do you understand what entails in a 6bolt block/7bolt head engine for your 2G? It is another option.

I agree with "clipise". You get a used 7 bolt - 1G or 2G, and blow it or if it gets crankwalked, you'll be seriously thinking about a doing a 6 bolt swap. BUT, it is your time, your money, and ultimately - you decision. You asked for help, we are giving it to you. Also, no one on here is/was calling you an idiot for not doing a 6 bolt swap. :dsm:

taken from a post made years ago on another board:

You need to buy all the 1g parts to be able to run a 1st gen 7bolt short block. (all the timing belt parts, and water pump). The only advantage is that you can use the 7bolt oil pump cover which allows you retain your crank angle sensor. All NEW 7 bolt oil pump covers from 92.5+ have the screw holes for the crank angle sensor.

So unless you are planning on keeping your flywheel, oil pan, cam angle sensor, and your crank angle sensor, you will go through the same amount of work as if you were doing a 6 bolt swap...

cool well thanx for the info. i think my ultimate decision is a new 2g 7 bolt from overbore. i decided against karking, and a can't find any other providers so... i'll just hope ol betty holds up to my brand new setup that hasnt even been used yet because i blew an engine. ohh shoot im talking outloud! damn! i was so close LOL...thnx for the help guys!

2450 is pretty pricey for a stock rebuild, but hey, if they've "solved" crankwalk it must be worth it

I like how they took basically all of their crankwalk info directly from prostreet's website.... I knew I had read it before somewhere.

You are an idiot for getting mad at people trying to help you out. The chances of a 7 bolt walking is even greater after the crank has been messed with from what i have seen in the past.
You're that guy that will be bitchin and cursin dsms in a few months because your car crankwalks but you had the chance to avoid it.

Good luck

I agree - except for the 'idiot' part. BUT hey, it's his time and money, he is entitled to make a decision for himself. Will his 'modified crank' 7 bolt walk? Probably will, if he's got enough mods to worry about blowing a new engine. :toobad:

I agree with the part that 7-bolts tend to walk after the crank is messed with. When i did my rod bearings i was going to do everythink on the bottom end. I changed my mind when i saw the girdle and just did the rod bearings. they were still in spec and in excellent condition too!
