Just installed my Mtx-l and I have a few questions. I've been searching and searching and am still confused. I'm trying to figure out what to connect the brown and yellow wires to. I don't want to get a CEL and I don't have link yet because of cost. I have the sensor installed in the front O2 location. What do I do with the old sensor and wiring?

Ah sorry missed that, if you dont have link then you cannot run it in the front o2 sensor location. You need a way to simulate the 02 which is done through link.

Ok that's kind of what I was thinking because everything I've been reading says simulate using Link. I do have SAFC II (not installed). Do you know if there is a way to simulate with that? Or should I just deal with the CEL (when it comes on) until I can afford Link?

And just leave the brown and yellow wires unconnected for now?

No you will need to install the stock 02 sensor so that you have a working narrowband signal. If you want to have the MTX-l installed then put it in the rear o2. You will still get a cel but it will not effect closed loop

I finally gave in and bought DSM Link! I also broke down and finally decided to order everything for my 16g upgrade. I got a rebuilt turbo, fmic kit from cxracing, 750cc injectors, walbro 190 fuel pump w/ rewiring kit, and a 16g install kit. I'm working on getting a Megan Racing o2 Housing also. I have a question about the 16g though and didn't want to start another thread. Why would a 16g have only a 2" intake? That seems small to me (same size as stock t25 right?). Doesn't the stock intake taper from 3" to 2" to fit that? Is there an upgrade for the compressor housing or something? And would it make a difference if it was 3"?

What 16g do you have? MHI big 16g should be 2 1/4". Also I wish I had seen your original post earlier, the yellow wire is the 5v output for wideband logging (which you'll need for DSMLink) and is commonly wired to the rear o2 pin on 2g's. The brown wire is the narrowband sim, which you can wire directly to the front o2 input at the ECU, leaving the stock connector under the hood disconnected. I've been running my 1g that way for several months with no problem.

It's the MHI Big 16g.

I know the size, I'm just wondering why so small? I would think it would maybe be a 3" inlet and use a 3" intake without tapering to 2 1/4".

16g's have same size or similar size as a t-25 because its considered a "factory " turbo.
I doubt Mitsubishi would want to have a 3" turbo inlet on their cars. Lol

Alright just a question. I would think a 3" inlet would allow for more power since there is more air flow. Is there a compressor housing that fits the 16g wheel with a 3" inlet? I'm just really curious if anyone else has thought about that.

Inlet size, when compared on the same turbo, doesn't affect very much. Minus some variables, turbos pull as much air as they want. As for power, it's generally more beneficial to stuff a bigger wheel in a smaller housing.

Alright well that answers my question about the inlet size . MTX-L really has narrowband simulation?!? Wish I had known that before I ordered DSM Link. So now that I will have both, which one should I use for narrowband simulation?

ECMlink has a whole lot more functions than just narrowband sim . Even though the MTX-L has the built in simulation, I still wouldnt recommend just wiring it up to your stock ecu. Using link you will be able to adjust the switch point so that you get a good 14.7 afr.
