Initial S-AFC settings for High/Low- 2g

The stock maps actually drop to about 9.5:1 at WOT. Tuning to hit about 11:1 AFR is typical.

So should I up the boost right now? Or take out more air on the S-AFC? Since I want to eventually be at or around 20psi. Should I just turn up the boost now and tune for that boost level?

If you are still at 15psi, I would go ahead and bump that up to about 17 or 18psi and make another pull. I suspect everything will be fine since you're running a -22% correction factor on 650cc injectors.

Ok great. I will do another pull at 18psi and log that run also. I'll keep an eye on my AFR also.... I'll report back.
 
Here's a pull at 18psi. Airflow is still a little disapointing. Wideband is still pegged at 10.0. And how can I fix that 3* of timing? A little low isn't it?

That blip in timing is fine, it's just how the 2g timing map is set up.

If you're still on -22%, that's about 30-31 lbs/min of airflow. It does seem a little low for that amount of boost IMO...maybe someone else will have some input. Knowing you I'm sure you've pentuple-checked for boost leaks already. Have you checked that the throttle plate is physically opening up all the way? Another possibility is that base timing is off--can you do a warm compression test?
 
I will do another boost leak test when I get a chance. I guess there's always a chance for a boost leak.

But, should I mess with the S-AFC at all? I mean I am running extremely rich (10.0)

Yeah, your timing is low in that area. Target timing at that airflow is 7 degrees provided coolant temp is below 206 degrees and IAT is < 84 degrees. Max airflow during the run hits 1.59g/rev at 6784rpm. Target timing at that point is 22 degrees, so it's very possible you're knocking.

But, keep in mind that base correction for 650cc injectors is -31% to hit the target AFR of 9.5:1. Based on your correction factors, you're about 9% richer than that and probably hitting an AFR of about 8.6:1. That's rich knock area. Personally, I would lean it out about 5 or 6% and make another pull.

You might also want to pull your plugs and make sure they aren't fouled because of running so rich. Did you go one step colder on the plugs?

You know, after actually plotting out what was going on I think you're right. I thought that the airflow/rev at 4000 RPM was much lower than it actually is, so there may in fact be timing.

Don't be too freaked out by the "knock", since there's a lot of guesswork involved, especially with the RPM being recorded at inopportune times and me being too lazy to interpolate timing with load.

The plugs should be a moot point since he is not misfiring as of now, although I suspect you're right in that they are blackened.

I did. I went with some BPR7es's gapped to 0.028". Should I go back to 6es's? I will check the plugs.

I will also do that boost leak and I will also take more airflow out of the AFC. How's -28 across the board? Seem ok?

Well, I found my boost leak today. Was getting on the the highway and gave it just enough gas to hit 18psi and sure enough "POOF". Coupler popped off the pipe and was just hanging there.

Anyway, whenever I get this solved, should I try like -28 across the board or something lower?
 
I don't have a link, but I can explain how to do it for you. Basically, you're going to wire the 0 - 5v output wire of the WBO2 right into the rear O2 sensor input at the ECU. Cut Pinout #75 at the ECU and wrap the cut side in electrical tape and tap into the ECU side with the WB output. You might get a CEL, and you might not, but you have a logger, so you can easily clear the code. Plus, having a dead O2 sensor won't effect drivability.

I did it for about 2 months and never tripped the CEL. The only downfall is that you can't see anything above 1.20v. It won't help you at idle, but it just so happens that 0 - 1.20 volts corresponds to 10:1 to 12.4:1. :sneaky:

Here is the equation to convert voltage seen on the logger into AFR, where V = voltage.

10 + (V*2) = AFR

That will be $3. :D
 
Wow. Thanks a lot. I will do that. That won't affect the gauge at all will it? And I guess when I log a run, I will click on O2 2bank now to see the wideband reading?
 
Nope, it won't affect the gauge. You're just using one of the additional outputs the UEGO offers. Whenever you want to log Lambda, just log Rear O2 (Bank 1). You'll have to do the calculation back to AFR, but you can do that with a spreadsheet really easily.
 
Excellent. I will give that a shot. I didn't even know that was possible. I will post up another log at 18psi with a -30% correction factor on the S-AFC, when I get this pipe welded up. Thanks a lot.
 
Alright guys, sorry for the delay. I pulled the plugs and they looked like this:

I guess they look alright. Anyway, went ahead and put in some new BPR6ES' gapped to .028". Fired her up and went for a drive, and already I can tell the car just overall runs smoother. It's amazing what 4 plugs can do.

Anyway, I also changed the HI settings to -28 across the board. And when I do a boost leak test this weekend I will also do a pull with those settings also.

I still got to wire up that 5v output wire, from the WBO2, to log the wideband reading. Then everything should be good to go.

I will report back with a log with the new WBO2 feature.
