Hey guys and gals! I want to start doing more out here in Kauai. We have a drag strip but only race once a month which doesn't seem enough LOL. Anyway I want to start a club out here to do autox and maybe drifting or uphill races. I figure autox would be the easiest to start with out here atleast. I see Oahu has a club and is part of the scca. I've contacted them for help also. Just wondering if anyone on here can help me out aswell. I've been eyeballing a location and it is used often for different events so I know it can be rented/used. Thx for any help! :)

I would start by getting in contact with the SCCA Hawaii Region, SCCA Hawaii Region, and inquire about the process of starting a new venue, as it would probably still fall under that region. I'm sure if you contacted the SCCA directly they will have recourses for starting up new solo events.

Cool thx for the info, those are exactly the people I've contacted so far. Today I got a email from the Hawaii region guy and he said he would love to help us set something up over here. :) I'm really excited about doing this we need something else to do out here besides drag racing. So far I have a few dozen people that are down this will be a mix of evo's, sti's, and gsx's and my gvr4 and then whoever and whatever else cars LOL.

No problem man. That would be awesome to get started over there! Once you try it you will be hooked. Here is a guide a made specifically for DSM's which can serve as a quick reference for selecting classes based on model and mods: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/road-course-autocross/451628-dsmtuners-com-scca-solo-autocross-guide.html Plus you will need to download the official rule book and get familiar with it.

I don't know how that will work out for you guys being on separate islands though, as far as sharing equipment and recourses. I know the timing and scoring equipment and all the cones needed aren't cheap.

Cool ill definitely look thru all that. As for equipment I don't know we would have to try and find our own I guess. Or maybe Oahu guys can help in between there events. Thx I look forward to this happening real soon.

Thx for all the info it will all help and already is. :) This may happen sooner than I thought. I've already found a back for us and he will supply equipment needed and his insurance to cover the event. Now I just need to get the location and cones. Looks like this may happen in July so anyone wanting to take vacation should come then LOL. More to come soon!! :)
