first off, I am posting in this forum because this is where I found part of my answer...but please move if it's in the wrong place.

I have a 2g which means I have 4 wires going to the TPS. the q45 tps has one pig tail w/ 3 wires and a short harnes w/ 3 wires. So far what I've been able to find is the the short harness is for the actual TPS and the pigtail is for the "idle validation circuit". I'm not sure what that means but I found it on some supra forums. I know that the difference between the 1g and 2g tps is that the the 4th wire (which ells the ecu if the throttle is closed) is seperate on a 1g. Could this be the same thing as "idle validation"?

So far this is the info I have come across as far as wired and what they are for:

q45 tps harness (not the pigtail):
-Red is the 5 volt input wire
-White is the TPS signal wire
-Black is the sensor return wire

2g tps harness:
1 - Green/Yellow (+5v Sensor Power)
2 - Brown/Red (TPS output voltage)
3 - Yellow/Red (IPS switch)
4 - Black (Ground)

Ok so I'm still a little confused on what wires to connect so if anyone has experience or more info t add I would appreciate it.

Are you still using stock springs?

Sounds pretty similar to my set-up except you don't have lifters and rockers, also springs. I'm curious to see some results.

When do you plan on going to PDW? I was going to have them dyno my car but a local guy is giving me a nice price. I even know a guy who can dyno just the motor, seldom from the car itseld. That machine is cool. I'd also like to see what kind of HP my cam gears can pull for me and yours for you (Slippi).

Why didn't you run a vacuum box with the manifold? Simplify the equation I guess you could say. Don't forget to post up the wiring situation for the TB when install time comes. If things turn out well maybe some other 420a guys can get some insight on the mod.

The springs and retainers are both crower and I"m not quite sure when i'm gonna be going to PDW but def trying to make it there asap

Like I said a 3" coupler fits inside the tb pretty easy and as to the overkill part just take a look at how big the plenum is and then tell me about overkill besides too much is beter then too little :rocks:

Anyway this is my warning to any parts that want to take long to come off you have been warned:mad:

LOL. What exactly was that thing? Why did you wait to take the part off the car before you hit it with a hammer? I just wail at that bi*** until it falls off.

Did you get the IM and TB installed yet?

That was the cruise control vacume box that was in front of the IM bracket. I would have hit it while it was on but I couldn't get a good angle on it cause it was underneath the manifold. I have the head and IM off and the exhaust dp and manifold. I'm gonna install the manifolds on the head on put the head on on monday cause that's when my arp head stud kit is cuming in and it has the studs for the head to block and the manifolds to head which should hold everything together real nice. I"m just putting on a regular HG for now but when the bottom end goes or I get enough money I"m gonna put a MLS or cometic HG on for when I start spraying the hell out of this motor. The head and block combo should make for one fast on bottle car and still get good gas mileage during regular driving.

AHAHAHA, Slippi that video rocked!

I'm still wondering why my 97 which has not been modified, doesn't have it... And if that is the cause of my non working cruise... Maybe they made a different kind? I was just thinking it might be a fuse or something for the cruise...

Mike, that intake manifold you have... Slippi was discussing this pos Intake for Neons... I think the one you have, if the flange was cut off... and flipped over so we can use it... I think it would be a killer Intake... your thoughts?

thats not always a good quote to build engines by :thumb:

Agreed but that's why we test things and then re test em and fix things and try new things. If we never went against the grain no one would ever break records or do new stuff.

I told you I was gonna #### that box up :beatentodeath: LOL

oh i agree in this situation when it comes to the intake and t-body u have versus the stocker......... with ## ported head, cams, intake and that t-body and u will loose some low end but up top it will dominate over the stock manifold set up.

exactly :rocks: If your gonna go big you have to go big all the way to get anything big out of it on a NA car. You need a performance filter pipe tb ported or aftermarket manifold and porting because if any of those don't flow enough to keep up with the rest your not gonna flow THAT much diffrent then stock not to say you won't see gains but it just won't wow you like a full intake build will and that's not even talking about cams which are another huge factor I"m just refering to restrictions in the flow of air.

Ok finally got the arp head studs(kinda disapointed the picture I saw looked like it had the studs for the manifolds in it too but mine was only the studs to hold the head down) put the head on and got the obx on. A couple things I have come across that are worth mentioning. The stock throttle cable isn't long enough to reach linkage on the q45 if you have cruise control which I do. That little black box at the top left hand corner of the engine bay is what i'm talking about if you odn't know where yours is. Two two anyone that uses the manifold's normal hook ups that point straight back more power to you cause there def isn't a lot of space backl there AT ALL. Other then that so far so good. the location of the manifold and tb leave plenty of room for a big intake as they actually sit further away from the battery then the stock setup. IN the mourning i'll take some picstures and post em so you guys can get a idea how it looks and in a day or two after the timing belt is done and the header is on i'll get the info eveyrone really wants.

Quick question is there like two types of fuel rails for like diffrent year 2gnt's? The rail that came with my obx manifold has a fpr at the end of it on the passenger side and a hook up for a tube or hose right above the fuel inlet while my stock rail has neither???

Quick answer, yes. Year diffference (early or late). I don't know the break off the top of my head. Someone else will be able to say. I just wanted to let you know quick like :thumb:

Thanks a lot man. Ok then comes my next question for the next person is there any ill effects to running one rail instead of the other? Looks like If I block off the fuel pressure regulator and that extra hook up and run it normal should be fine.

If you blocked the return on the early model fuel rail, you could then run it as a conventional late model fuel setup. You shouldn't have to disable the FPR to do what you want to do.

Cool I"m gonna do that then. I don't want to shortcut anything and rush this and not give everyone accurate usable data on this mod.

sorry for jacking your pic link but I just needed a quick reference. How important is this line can I just run a filter on it or would it spit oil. I can run a t line and run that line in the same port as the egr line is going to but I just want to make sure I can't just block it off or filter it and call it a day.

No problem for usage, I was just like WOAH that looks familiar.

That is the PCV system, I would suggest against eliminating this; you could relocate it. That whole setup is two vacuum hoses and one pcv valve. You can safely route that any way you would like I would assume.

Glad my pics could help someone.

I"m gonna run a T off one of the tapped hook ups on the back/bottom of the manifold and one port on the T is gonna be for the egr system and the other is for the pcv I figure can't hurt since they come from the same place just diffrent spots on the head. That way I won't throw any cel's or engine codes. I"m gonna hook it left and go around and underneath the manifold to keep the line out the way for the pcv.

Ok I have everything hooked up I even found a way to hook the stock egr setup so NO cells here :D but now I can't even find the dam MAP sensor plug or the other plug that go into the manifold??? I'm losing my mind here I'm ready to hook things up and start her up but I can't even find two little plugs someone throw me a bone and tell me where to look for these plugs at??

This is part of the harness that reaches to the coolant temp sender etc. There is a pigtail that comes out at about the end of the fuel rail (pulley side). Take a look and you'll say "oh yeah"

I hope your right cause I even had the car jacked up looking from the underside of the manifold to find these dam things and just gave up cause it's cold as hell and I don't have a garage:notgood: Hopefully it will be just hooking those plugs up and running my battery cable to the trunk for my battery relocation kit and I should be set.

Ok I don't usualy ask for handouts as that's not the tuners way but can someone thorw me a pic of atleast the area to look in cause I tried to take bullet's advice but I see jack. Now granted it spitting and I"m tired as hell from football but I really just wanna figure out where these dam plugs are.

Ok, check these pics out (don't mind the weirdo extra wires. That's the MSnS). I left the two plugs unplugged.

Thanks man I don't know where the hell that thing is but its' def not right up top anymore LOL. I think I tucked it underneather the intake when I put it on so I'm gonna go home and look again now that I knwo what I"m looking for. Its' nice and sunny so I shoudl be set. It's been cold as hell lately and I"m lazy when it gets cold.

Ok I found my plugs the harness was just hanging and not wrapped around OE style so they were no where even close to where they were suposed to be. Problem now is I got the map sensor plugged in but looking at bullets pics my other plug is more like a plastic female plug not another male style like the blue plug unplugged in this pic. Is that cause your running MS or am I just missing something. Now another thing is I have the early style rail and the guy I got it from has a sensor plug on the rail could that replace one of those other plugs?

I'll see what I can do tomorrow. Problem is te manifold is on and the plug is underneath the manifold but I"ll get my camera skills on and try and take it from underneath so you can see the plug i'm talking about.

that's the plug i'm talking about. Does that plug coming from the rail do the same as the plug that's usualy behind the manifold?

Here is a better pic of the plugs i'm talking about. Are the two plugs with ? the same or no?

I need to stop looking around online for deals when I"m trying to get my car back on the road. I just got a deal on a built bottom end with wiseco pistons and H beam rods with new crank and the works to compliment my fully built head. SO the obx 420a project wil have to be pushed back a little not to much but probably like 2 weeks. The project has been renamed "Fastest NA w/ Nitrous Project" I figure I have seen people with 175 shots and built engine but nobody too serious about going fast like with making trips to the track posting times or what not so I figure why not me. On teh bright side my setup with as big a shot as I"m gonna be using which by the way will probably be something liek a 200 shot :sneaky: WIll act like a turbo car so you will get to see the manifold when in forced iduction becomes a factor. I figure with about 350whp I should be able to get into the low 12's maybe better depending on driving launching weight of the car ect. All I know is that this is gonna be a sleepr and half. How many eclipses without fmic do you see in the low 12 sec area with GS on the back ROFL

edit: By the way I have everything but a clutch. DO you guys think a stage 3 will cut it or something like a stage 4 or stage 3+ will be needed?

The hardest part for you is going to be finding ignition and fuel control. I don't know much about nitrous but I'd vouch to say a 200 shot will advance timing to some degree. Literally.

In all honesty meth/alcohol injection may not be a bad option for you. Make sure you break the motor in properly as well. No STOMP AND WOMP right after you drop er' in! :nono:
