im not sure about cruising up there, but i'll definately be there to race! My buddy just bought a 91 gst last night so if we get the fuel cut worked out then he'll probably race it to get a baseline bone stock run with it.

Everyone take off wednesday the 24th and come race at the track!

Alex, how's the chip dave burned for you working out? Get any good tuning done with the car?

Testicle, are you still creepin? If bullseye was still making the exhaust halves of 16g's id say get one of those. I bought the ported one with a 38mm internal gate and it cured my creep. If i get a bigger turbo soon, i'll sell it to ya for cheap.

more willing? I think it just about pissed me off into going there ROFL. Lets just see what the product of hours of reading and roughly 3.4k miles behind the wheel of a dsm can do. Thats right, in the last 1.5+ years, the car has seen less miles than I thought possible. I knew I was gonna try and keep her low miles, but DAMN. Im almost at 3.4k since feb 17th 2005.

Amazing that you keep track of everyone elses car better than me, I though I lived here, but I guess not...LOL

as for the boost creep, I figured, meh f*ck it, I'll just empty her out, make a stop over in redwood city, and call it a day. looks like the 24th should be a lot of fun, assuming you guys don't leave me out to dry again. Your actually going this time, right? Wanna meet up and cruise out there together or what? I know I would rather follow you guys than drive aimlessly for an hour trying to figure out where I am, only to pop up at the intersection of 121 and 37 or whatever it is. I was so lucky I was going the right way LOL
 
Dan, I aint racing shit;) . This friggin' Supra is a big ass boat, it's like a whale. Frankly, it's too reliable and durable for me. There are NO problems with this car. It starts up the same everytime, doesn't make any strange noises ever, and already has a lot of cool aftermarket stuff on it which for MKIII Supras is a rarity:thumb: Maybe I should keep it, install a DP, testpipe, and go for about 330 to the wheels. It should be doable, everything else is in place for it. I just don't know. :confused:
Screw it, I should sell it:D
 
Hey you gotta know whats up with your friends cars and your competitions cars! Plus i could care less about a lot of peoples cars on this site, you never get to see them or ride in them or go race with them. Id rather know what the people's cars in this thread are doing since we are all local and interested in going to the track together! Also, i dont go to school so most of the reading i do is on this site or the dsmlink forums! haha. Man, most of my friends that got into dsm's with me either sold their cars, or are too broke to even mess with them anymore. My one friend that has a car with potential has needed a new turbo for like half a year now and is just bsing and not getting his car back together. You guys are my only car friends right now!!!

Im sure you could meet paul at his shop and follow him since you guys are on the same side of the bay.
If i were you id just go over the richmond bridge and head up 101 till you get to 37, then you turn left at 121 and left to go into the track... its that simple.
Or if you get the gas on the way, take 280 back from redwood city and get off at 19th ave in san francisco and follow that until you go across the golden gate bridge to 101 and the rest is the same.

Yeah man, low miles, i feel ya. My car doesnt see much driving either. Not as low as you, but i think its something like 4-5k miles in the last year. I can look at some receipts and what not to find out when i put in my act2600 then i'll know its been about 3-4k since then. You know what... i think that was about a year ago! Damn dsm's! never running! haha, well its not that its not running, its just not running right, so i wont drive my car unless its in perfect shape, because thats when i'll break something else.

Anyways, i'll end this ramble.

ron, obviously its no dsm, all the strange noises and mishaps probably wont happen.
you could up the boost with what you have and see what happens.....

or sell it to that kid i know that wants to put a widebody kit on it and 19inch rims and some decals AS HIS FIRST MODS ahhhhhh! Thats why i think you might have to up the price $500, but remember, you would be selling the car's soul.

Man!!! buy the gvr4 back! Wasnt it fun pushing it through the drivethrough window at carls Jr? Remember the look on that guys face when we are both outside the car pushing that thing! hahaha!!!! Now thats a dsm!!! its a new adventure every day!

Yeah Danny I put in the EPROM w/ the chip and I think the chip is fine, but my car's not. My fuel trims are still whack and I'm getting knock that I can't pinpoint just yet... more tuning, tuning, tuning and see what happens. I'm still stying to make it out the the track on the 24th... hopefully I'll get something resolved by then. Until then.... :rocks:

Well I'm set at 27psi, although I think I should've went with bigger/stiffer W/G..
MY boost drops off to about 23psi past redline. On the good side, I see zero knock (to the point that I'm worried if my knock sensor is working :D ), and car pulls awesome. I had a slight missfire issue, so I pulled plugs and replaced them. That solved the missfire. I was actually amazed looking at my plugs. There were perfect color. No soot, no burns, no white crystalization. They were actually worn out (gap was too big, and electrode was a bit thin). Seeing those plugs kinda reasured me that knock sensor does work, I just don't get any knock.

Ron: It's 11:30, why isn't our majesty here yet?

Brian: How many pounds do you have your car tuned at? Any guestimates for the timeslip?
I say we all give a guestimate, and see who's closest on 24th.
I say 12.7 for me.
 
Im not exactly sure what its running at, I've been trying to turn the boost down for a while, but a catless, mufflerless 14b with the stock o2 housing is hard to control. with a straight line from the bov line to the wastegate I was getting like 17-18 psi, and when I installed the mbc hoping it wouldn't change anything it was at like 23 with it screwed all the way out, so I clipped the spring even shorter and tried again, so now its at like 21-22 psi. Amazingly I don't get much knock, most of it is from having extremely advanced timing. Before I changed the base fuel pressure, I saw less than 10 counts at any given time, with everything else the same. Now that I bumped up the base fuel pressure, it advances the timing a lot so I get some decent knock. I figure some 100 octane gas should help cure that for the 24th, and then I can just leave it how it is or take a little bit of air out since Im running at like 10.5:1 I think. I don't drive the car much, and I especially don't go wot often, so remembering what my wideband reads at wot is kinda hard. I should maybe tune in rpm mode while at the track, since my guess is it leans out a little at the 5.5-6.5k range, since thats where it would knock when it finally did before I changed the base fuel pressure.

on a side note, this sobe Im drinking says on the cap, "do the lizards have large talons?"

no, but soon enough we will have large turbos......(actually it will never be soon enough for me, I want a 3575 NOW!!!!! too bad I don't have the injectors to handle a turbo like that)

danny, I still have that plastic thing you wanted. My brain hurts too much right now to think of what its called. the wheel gaurd thingy... whatever, look at your pms, its the thing you asked for.

paul, do you want a realistic guess, or a theoretical guess? factoring in my bad driving, Im thinking I will get a 13.6-13.8, but if I can actually pull my shit together, I might be able to pull off a 13.3 (LOL almost put 12.2 there, that would have been a funny typo...)
 
Being stock doesn't suck nearly as bad as I thought it would. I guess it's because I still have some hidden mods like a built motor, light flywheel, good tuning and about 200 pounds of weight removed from the car. :sneaky: I haven't done a full WOT pull yet, so I may change my mind about this setup as soon as I feel how weak the top end feels now. It feels great driving around town, really torquey and responsive, maybe it's a combination of a quick spooling turbo and what looks like a 1990 intake cam:barf: paired with a 2G exhaust cam. :barf: Thanks for the cams, Paul, do you have a side bet going that I won't hit a 12 or something? :)
I still can't wait to take it to the track and see what it'll do. My crystal ball shows me doing a 12.7 if I can hit another 1.6 60' time.

I'd be suprised if you didn't go faster than a 12.7. When I ran 11.6 @119 I used 27psi of boost, and you have a mods list that can do 11's easily. Honestly, I think I might not hit a 12.7, maybe a 12.99 unless my luck runs out and I only get 3 crappy runs. I just hope I get some time to tune it before I get to the track, otherwise my learning curve will have to be really steep. I can't wait for next Wednesday!

HAHA, that's funny. Something tells me Paul isn't going to get it all sorted out until either I get an Ostrich emulator or he gets a DSMLink and that garbage-ass POS safc gets tossed out the window never to be seen again. I've grown to really despise those little bastards, I just hate them.
For the 24th I hope it isn't too hot or too crowded, that always puts a damper on things for me.

Hey Dan, the GVR4 is gone dude. It went to a couple down in Long Beach. That drive thru was a funny scene. Us walking up to the window to pay while not being the least bit concerned about our predicament, because we own a Mitsubishi and are always ready for something like that to go down, is what probably shocked everybody that saw it:D . I wasn't the least bit surprised that something like that happened.
The Supra is alright. I pulled on Robert in his poorly running M3 yesterday while getting onto the Parkway, so it has a little 'giddy-up' when pressed. I ventured into the double digit boost setting this evening, I raised the 'volume' on my EVCI to 10lbs:sneaky: Oh yeah, on the edge:)

Dave, if you run a 12 in your talon you arent my friend anymore.... (well at least if you do it before me). But then again you do have some bars at driving, and all those tricks up your sleve that you mentioned.

Brian, slap in the 100 octane and you will like what you feel. That spike of knock at 6k is probably because the stock timing map for the high airflow map in the ecu has a nice curve and right when you get to 6k it spikes up. Us dsmlink guys just pull that little bit out to ease tuning and have a good timing curve!

Im going to pauls shop today, he's going to change my timing cover, and install the methanol injection that i just received yesterday. Im shooting for 20lbs tuned by friday. I'll give you my 1/4mi guesstimate by then. Last time i ran 13.5 on 15lbs of boost, so 20 hopefully i'll be in the 13.0-13.3 range, and ill cross my fingers to break into 12's. I think that will rely on some "davelike" driving though.

Good luck with your set ups my friends, and we'll have some fun on wednesday.
Be sure to go extra early as there will probably be a long line and crowded racing.
 
Seems like a good guesstimate Danny!!! Go FOR IT! BTW... I'm starting to doubt that I'll be able to make it to the track on Wed. (school sh!t) So I wish you all luck... and for next time I'll be guesstimating mid 13's for myself. :D

Why would I do that? I don't have knock (and my knock sensor is fine, tested it). So far I'm happy with it.

I should probably get rid of that TurboXS boost controller though. I think that bleeder hole is simply gets overflown and that's why boost is dropping off. A simple ball and spring MBC should solve that issue.
 
I think im going to get a different mbc as well paul. I really dont like that controller. Boost still falls off. Last night i went driving around and i cranked up the boost and it will hold for a while then just drop off. I dont think i have any boost leaks since we just fixed that major one like a week ago. Also i wouldnt thing that a 16g would run out of steam at 20 psi by like 6k. BTW, unless my boost spikes up to like 25psi i have no knock with a mid 10/1 a/f ratio. I think if i can get this boost to hold solid and tune a little i can pull some more power from this car. It felt fast last night, but ehhh i think it could be faster. Paul we should boost leak test it with the methanol injection on to see if its leaking around where the nozzle was put in.

On a side note, last night my dipstick kept popping out and i got oil all over the engine bay, and on the alternator... :( so when i got home, i was letting my car idle and it started to do the "all lights come on, but dimly" so i think i might have fried it. I turned the car off right when i saw this and tried to wipe down the alternator, but it might be too late. I'll test it with my multimeter today to see whats up.

Anyways turboxs dual stage mbc's suck.
My guesstimate for my car where it was last night is probably around the same 13.5 if not a couple tenths faster. When i launch the car really hard and try to shift second its not agreeing with me again... so that could pose a problem.
 
Why do you guys spend all this money on shitty expensive namebrand boost controllers? Mine has held everywhere from 12 to 22 PSI solidly and it cost me like 10 bucks from eBay.
